LSU coaching search will be interesting

But the point is why should LSU trust him to hire good coordinators? He literally hired Bo Pelini without even interviewing him. Bo produced the worst defense in modern LSU history and walked away with $6.3 million after serving on staff for only one year.
Pelini wanted to run a 3-4 defense similar to what Aranda did but O wouldn't have it. LSU didn't have the personnel to run the outdated 4-3 that Ed is in love with. Witness what MSST did to that defense.

Two names that would be on my list if I were AD at LSU:

1. Mario Cristobol - Hear his name associated as eventually replacing Saban, but that could be a while.

2. Lincoln Riley - If money isn't an object (my assumption), why not? He'll be in the conference in a year or two anyway.

LSU is trying to land Fisher since he has no buyout at Texas A&M.

All the “Jimbo to LSU” is just because their AD, Woodward, brought Jimbo to A&M. LSU tried to get Jimbo twice when he was at FSU. They failed both times.

A&M has more $$ and less stupidity. Fisher is given everything he wants at A&M, plus, his son sees a specialist in Houston (has a condition that requires very specific hospitalization). He re-affirmed his commitment to A&M.

Lazy journalism at it’s best.

Has he really done that much to qualify himself as an NFL head coach?

Honest answer is no. Brady has actually done quite little.

But-and a big but

You see how the trend in the league is going. McVay started the trend. Dude looked like he had just started shaving when he got the Rams job. After he had some success everybody wanted a younger, high energy coach. LaFleur in GB, Kingsbury, whatever the guys name is that Philly hired earlier this year. McCarthy is Dallas is basically just a placeholder until Kellen Moore is ready to step up.

The NFL is a copy cat league. Works for one team and everybody does it.

Plus isn't he making like 8 or 9 million a year now? I can't see him leaving either. But anything can happen I suppose.

Does Jimbo even have custody of the kid? I honestly do not know.

Point being, his kids situation was always stated as the reason he would not leave FSU for LSU. A divorce later and boom-Jimbo got outta town on the first thing smoking.

They are making a mistake letting Ed O go. He has proven he can win a NC with a good staff.
Ed O was apparently bringing girlfriends and their kids to LSU practices and letting the kids participate in team practice.

Whether you can coach or not, you can't be a complete and total dumbass like that.

So what if some kid, hell even a big kid, accidently gets tripped on by a 300+ LSU O Lineman and ends up with a few ribs in his lungs.

Ed O is letting the little head control the big head. Until he gets past his second "sophomore year" he's worthless as a coach.

Luke Fickell seems to be LSU's choice among fans..... and I agree, though I think he won't take it..... Anybody who can take a bunch of low 3* kids and turn them into a championship team is my choice...... And it's not been just this year but for the last 2-3 years. Hires excellent Co-ordinators and staff and is as disciplined and tough as hell as witnessed by his 163-0 record (all pins) as a 3-time state hs heavyweight wrestling champion and starting 50 games for OSU at nose tackle and playing his final game in a bowl with a broken bone....... That's the kind of guy I want plus a fringe benefit is he is a high character man and great recruiter. Also coached for nearly 20 years under 2 HOF coaches.

You make an excellent point. I had forgotten about that. They said it all the time when he was at Florida state, that the kids condition and the local hospitals ability to deal with it would keep Jimbo in Tallahassee. That changed very quickly though. Do we honestly think LSU is not willing to create a special wing at the local hospital to lure the coach they want?

Possibly, but LSU is a better job, anyone who says different is wrong.

Depends on what you are looking for. They have shown very little patience firing Ed Orgeron less than two years after a national championship, plus you have Saban, Kiffin, etc to deal with every year.

Upside is access to an insane talent and resources, but you get that at USC. USC is a sleeping giant in a week conference.

Why? USC has better tradition than LSU, easier path to the CFP and could lock down an entire side of the country in recruiting if they get it rolling . I don’t think it’s that simple to say that LSU is definitely the better job.

LSU is the passion of the whole state. They live for LSU football. At USC you have UCLA and a ton of professional teams. It’s a different fan base. USC fans care when they are winning, LSU fans are there regardless.

LSU is doing too much self-damage by firing a coach 2 years removed from a NC. What elite coach will want to walk into that mess?
