Love Our Coaches; Bad Coaching?

I always find these topics interesting. Not to agree or disagree, but when we have a kick blocked, a pass picked, etc, it always what WE did wrong. If we had DONE those things to the other team we would be thinking how GOOD our defense is. Not excusing poor play, but there IS the fact the other team can often put us/them in position to succeed or fail.

Hooker needs to be more accurate and the problems would b solved. It’s that simple. He’s a little off. Plus,.. 2/3rds of the game he gets the ball and stares at Tillman only. Ik he was songle
Covered most of the game but man it was bad in the second half.

SEC Offensive Player of the Week in Hooker. Perhaps we are over critical.

Yes, and Heupel is going to have to grow up quick in his understanding of this. They were having no problem with the short stuff and he essentially abandoned the run. I don’t blame Wright on the fumble. Hell, he was probably shocked they called a run play. Plus, We’ve seen those calls negated as forward progress.

I think you might want to research our offense. I never played the game but have looked at things that discuss Heupel's offense. There aren't "specific" calls made very much. There are options, and the QB reads the defense and dictates the play call. Heupel didn't abandon the run. Hooker called plays based on what Pitt gave them.

Just watch this 10:00 video when Heupel was hired.

It was just like we said pre-game, Pitt will overplay the run and cover man-to-man. It will be the UT's ability to hit open receivers versus their bullrush. Hyatt was open on the first slant for a TD but the pass was long. Tillman dropped 2 passes on the 2nd series and UT was down 10-0. They won that initial battle and then our staff adjusted. Main point, guys were running wide open so the correct plays were called to be up 14-0. Execution.

Statistically Heupel’s offense fades away in the 2nd half. It happened much of last year and it arose in this game with Pitt. Heupel needs to look in the mirror and get that fixed, it’s a bad trend and is not conducive to a long tenure as an SEC head coach. Can he? Yes. Will he? Time will tell.

Perhaps. But theirs always a but. You can’t tell me his accuracy wasn’t off? Yes a few drops but it’s the second week in a row he’s been off. Coach Hassle and Golesh both have commented that they’ve had to correct his foot work both weeks.

Perfection is a rare thing.
