1. Fant has been here for years. No way he doesn't understand the pick rule. [Dropped easy pass too.]
2. On the blocked punt, who did the right end think was going to block the guy who blocked it?
3. We have to have a guy that can field a punt in the bread basket rather than over his head.

I though our RB fumble should have been called forward progress. Can't blame him too much.
Defense surprisingly good. On the field for 35 minutes.
Should have hung 40 on these guys.

Regarding #2....2 guys rushed him. You always pick the inside man. That was the design of the rush. Brooks has to speed up there. They had gotten close several punts before that.

Heupel can't make flowers catch a punt to be fair. I think Dee Williams would be the starter back there but he's hurt.

The pick play on Fant was a little bang bang. The LB initiated the contract imo, but Fant just needs to do a better job of selling it. That happens. Jaylen Wright is super talented, but he's got to figure out how to hold on to the ball. He had a fumble last game too.

There's no "right" way to answer your question (cause it's opinion), but I think it's hard to blame mental lapses on the coaches. I assume you aren't insinuating the coaches didn't coach the proper technique for the listed plays, cause they're all fairly fundamental...

I think this was bad execution. I think the coaching decisions overcame the bad execution today. The coach needs to fix this against Akron and we need to roll in similar fashion that we did against Ball St.

Totally agree. Offensively we just kept making mistakes or didn’t execute. Glad to see our defense step up at big moments. Hopefully the O got it out of their system.

I’ll go with the Saban answer “Rat Poison”. The SEC network has been saying all week that we would walk all over Pitt, so the team was over looking them.

Brooks needs to get punts off faster. the one blocked, he looked like he was on the practice field. Must get much faster !

We looked sloppy and undisciplined. Should have come out in the 3rd against a back-up QB and put this game away (I think Pitt was ready to give up too but we let them hang around with dumb mistakes and regain some juice) but I have to remember this is early in year 2 of a major rebuild on the road against a decent team. We are hopefully learning how to become that team that puts Pitt away in the 3rd in this game, but we arent there yet.

Who has the best hands on the team? Don’t need a return man with this offense, just make the catch. I don’t know who you put back there though. Hyatt? Sampson? Charles?

Will Anderson hit a player right in front of the ref when that player had already fallen down and stood back up. That was one of a few penalties he received today. Is Alabama poorly coached because their All American LB made dumb plays?

That's another option, but I honestly feel like you have a weapon in Squirrel. Let's see what he has against Akron and go from there. I'm not willing to concede the return every time.
I think the same but until someone is comfortable their just fair catch it or let it go

Bad execution at times. I feel like the play calling from both the offensive and defensive sides was pretty solid. We had a few dropped TD passes, we lost a fumble etc. Defense played well. Sounds kind of savage to say but they knocked out their starting QB and didn’t allow the backup to get into any sort of a rhythm. They held strong for the most part when the offense or special teams gave Pitt a short field. Good win. Let’s regroup and get ready for our last tune up game before league play.
