TN vs. TX in the Sugar bowl has a nice ring to it. as does TN vs OU in the Sugar.

it's been a long time since TN orange has graced the superdome...

My hope is that UT and Clemson both make the playoffs and we get Clemson in the championship game and throttle them!

I wouldn't want to play against Watson. That offense is hard to stop.

We don't have a great bowl record with Clemson. We wouldn't throttle them it would probably be in the conversation for the best bowl game.

We're going to have one of the best defenses this year that I've ever seen UT have! I think between our D and Shoop, we would do just fine.

If that is the outcome I'll be estatic. We don't have the recruiting rankings to win the championship (neither does Clemson) so getting to the Orange Bowl would be huge

Guys, call off the season. No need to play it anymore!! 08Vol saved us all countless hours of pointless football. Alabama is your national champion again due to highest average recruiting class ranking.

Thanks man!! I can't believe I was about to watch football for literally no reason because recruiting rankings determine everything!!! Next round is on me good sir :loco:

Since 2006 every team that has won the national championship has a 4 year top 10 recruiting average. The only exception is Auburn in 2010 with Cam Newton. 2005 would be included too if TX had signed more people in 2004 and 2005 (they had the highest avg star ranking but only signed around 15 players both years).

But I'm sure we will be the 2nd team in 12 years to pull it off because we reeeeaaallllyyyy want it this year. If the stats hold up your 2016 national champion will be someone from this list
Bama
Ohio St
LSU
FSU
Auburn
UGA
Southen Cal
aTm (their ranking is 10.75)

There is almost no way the bottom 4 teams win a National Title. Stat junkies are literally the worst kind of people. Why even watch the Tennessee game man? You can get everything you need to know about the game with the summary sheet that local radios and the official vol football account will tweet out after the game.

Oh, and I guess Clemson should just hang up their cleats. The fact that they were 1 play or so away from beating Alabama in last year's national title game means absolutely nothing compared to the stat sheet. We should just go ahead and have LSU, Bama, OSU, and FSU play in the playoff and end this season within two weeks because football is just pointless.

This is the first time I agree with 08vol. I agree in the sense that an New Year's Six bowl appearance would be great for this year's team. The playoffs can't be ruled out, but I'm expecting a Sugar or Orange bowl.

With your and 08Vol's logic there is absolutely no point in playing the season. So we should just pack it up, put LSU, OSU, FSU, and Bama in the playoffs and call it a day by mid-September.

There is more to sports then just recruiting rankings. It's much more nuanced than a stat sheet. TN's average of last 4 classes (depending on where you look) is just barely outside of a top 10 average. Only a few points higher.

Where in my post did I say anything about recruiting rankings? All I agreed with him on is that the Orange bowl would be great for Tennessee. Anything more would be icing on the cake.

Exactly. Haven't we lost to them 2 in a row in bowl games?

But that's not what he is saying. He is saying TN is not talented enough to win a national title. I call BS on that. We are one of the most talented teams in the nation. Whether or not our coaching pans out and whether or not we execute is a different story, but to say because our recruiting rankings aren't high enough we aren't talented enough to win a national title is complete and utter ignorance.
