Losing Green was unfortunate, however

We can't land one RB? Not one? Green was alot of invested and wasted time. Go back and look at his(Graham) rivals page, its a legitimate question. Lattimore and that's all, regardless of position.

what am I missing? was national signing day yesterday or something?

has Grahams rivals page been updated in 4 years? you are delirious if thinking Graham isn't involved with recruiting a lot of players. if you get your info from rivals, I'm done arguing with you.

With Green making the mistake he did, what RB do we now turn to as our number one RB prospect? Who do we have the best shot at landing come NSD?

Jay Graham= VFL and an awesome coach, BUT I have yet to see him land a descent SEC caliber back yet. You got kids going to Vandy and Ole Miss that should be in our backfield. I realize all the handycaps we have right now, but isn't this why we kept him on the staff? Hope he surprises us NSD, but from the looks of it, we will go two years without signing a high end back that knows he could step in a start. (Bourque does not count)

Lattimore? & why does Borque not count? He may not have panned out, but he was a 4* SEC caliber back from LA if I'm not mistaken that otherwise would have gone to LSU. Just saying. It' be nice to see a bona fide Lewis or Henry back there (a la Bama backs last few years) but we're not bleeding at RB. I agree tho, if don't get Ford, hang it up for this yr.

So true. Biggest example is of course Bama. Saban hasnt won all those championships with a flashy offense. It all starts and ends on defense. The concept that the spread wont work in the SEC to me is a tired argument. If Saban ran the spread at Bama he would still be ultra successful as long as the defense remained stout. If Jancek and the defensive staff can get their units to toughen up and play assignment football the offense will take care of itself.
Are you kidding me? Look at the RB's that Satan is churning out at Alabama! That's why their offense isn't "flashy." They pound the rock with awesome RB's and sneak in a deep throw every now and then.

Blaming CJG for not landing Green is moronic. Thanks to CJG, UT was in the conversation, without him we have no chance.

Agree CJG had us in the running. At some point, we have to win these battles and not just be a hat on the table.

Jones had about 2 months to establish a good relationship with Green at a new school. Hoke had Green for over a year and Michigan was always the favorite. I think if Jones had a few more weeks or another month, we probably would've landed him

I actually think the opposite. I think we lost Green when CBJ was hired. Michigan was just more stable and ran the offense he wanted to be in. We offered around 35 RBs in this class. We are down to the last 2-3 left who could pick UT or flip to us. I am sorry, but that is ROUGH. Not sure that can be sugarcoated.

I watched Green's films and wasn't impressed. He was fast once he got going, but ran through the line like he was scared. He only accelerated when the lane was clear or he was out in the open. He seemed a little gun shy to me. I never got his highly rated status. (I even went back and watched his film 2 other times to see if I had missed something, but I'm no scout)

Kamara is a beast, hated we missed on him. Ford is a beast, would like to have him. Kemp a great back, just not a pound it at you kind of guy.

Best of luck to all of these kids, where ever they choose to go to school, and chase their dreams.

Yeah Green sucks now that he isn't a Vol. I can see all his deficiencies clearer now.

returning back to competing in Atlanta on the first weekend in December will start with defense, special teams, and then offense. Having WR U will only take you so far, but defense and improved special teams play is the need now. That is why Bell and Lawson are extremely important to start in this direction. They provide potentially two impact players at two different levels of our defense. Let's hope they both see their role with our program for the next four years.

Agree 100%... Somebody gets it.. You would think last year would glaringly illustrate this point.. Until this year BAMA has been nothing to write home about on offense, pretty much one-dimensional but they have been lights out on defense in their run..

I know athleticism and SPEED is the reason the SEC is so good but those things combined with defense is the REASON the SEC has dominated the BCS..

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS...

Tired of all the WRU and RBU talk.. Let's hear some DTU, LBU or DBU talk..

It could be that because of Graham, a UT hat was on the table with Green. If not, who knows. We have to walk b/4 we run (no pun intended).

Never said it wasnt important to have a top flight rb. I just dont think its a necessity as long as the defense is stout. Examples from the SEC you ask? Florida and LSU. Both have won titles within the last 10 yrs and neither had a top flight rb that I can remember. Good yes, but not great. But what did both of those teams plus Bama have? Great defenses.
