Looks like GT may be down another RB

Slotback - Lynch is a star player and has many big time plays. This is a loss. He will not start, but he may be available. He has not practiced enough to have all the rust off. This has been a known for sometime. The question was will he be back in time for the game.

The other 2 A-Backs/slotbacks are proven and have big plays as well. Nathan Cottrell is the third slotback and is expected to be a very good blocker, strong runner, and fast.

All the FullBacks are good to go at this point,

Cottrell is very likely the fastest man on the two rosters combined.

Nathan Cottrell is from Knoxville, so some people here may have seen him play if not know him/his family

I had forgotten that he went to gtech

Now GT starters are getting hurt!? Somehow there are some on here who will believe Butch is responsible for those too.

I can't start a thread but I will give you a GT team update.

The QB:
There is a new QB for 2017. The starter was expected to Mathew Jorden at the start of the season. MJ led GT to victory last year against VT.MJ is a down hill heavy hitting QB. MJ was not able to keep a firm hold of his job in fall practice. The current expectation is that T. Marshall is the starter. Marshall is down hill too, but has more quicks and less power than MJ. Lucas Johnson is the next possibility and is the best combination in weight and speed. He is also the best passer. Johnson may be too young to start given the need to know the complex system.

The Bad:
Lost the 1st (left the team) and 2nd (went to another school) string fullback

The big play maker Lynch slot back may be out for the game and will not start.

Out for the game is the starting left tackle

1st time starting for GTs QB if not Jorden

The Good:
The current OL is supposed to be the best Paul Johnson has had at GT - some depth issues

The WR and slotbacks are very skilled, very experienced, and have excellent proven abilities

The replacement fullback, Benson, has been in the system for 2 years and showed out in the spring game. He has always been on the radar.

A true freshman, Howard, is a fullback that has shown he may be better than last years true freshman starter Mills... He does not have the spring practice Mills had for his first year. He needs more time to learn the system.

Defense:

Good: all the DB are returning and are strong

Questions are out on the DL and we expect UT to run to test them

The LB are also a question for 2017

Just goes to show that it happens everywhere. Last year was a total freaking disaster for us, but injuries do occur

Believe whatever you want. That kid can freaking fly. Electronically timed SPARQ 40 of 4.35....was 7th nationally on the SPARQ leaderboard out of 21,000 athletes timed in 2014. 41 inch vertical to boot. Kid is explosive and lightning fast. Don't know how good a football player he is, but he's a burner. Who do we have that can run a legit sub 4.4? Maybe Byrd or Latrell Williams? Maybe?

I know hes good KB just messing with ya. Followed him in Knoxville. He still has to run East and West for that pitch before turning North and South. Hopefully Mr Warrior will be there meeting him at that same time.

He return kicks and punts for GT?

Oh, my bad 😁, didn't realize you were goofing.

Not sure if he returns kicks. Wish we'd have grabbed him up rather than Joc Bruce. Speed kills.

Hate to hear about any injuries and kids getting in trouble.
At the rate our 2 teams are going, they're gonna nickname the game "Battle for the 3rd string ring". Open tryouts to be held Monday before the game.

Edit: Sounded like a downer post, was meant light hearted. Do hope no more injuries or trouble though. My God it's finally football time in Tennessee.

Georgia Tech must be recruiting injury prone players- Catbone

They need to clean house over at the S&C dept. Paul Johnson should probably just be fired for having these kinds of S&C failures that are causing these injuries.

Byrd, Williams, and Evan Berry all can run 4.4 or below. Williams has ran a 4.27 in the 40 before. Another may be Ty Chandler. Someone else said Josh Palmer, but I don't know about that.

He returns kicks I believe. Brad Stewart returns punts.
