Looks like Chaney is gone

He was severely handicapped with JG....

But Heupel deserves his own people.
Sucks for Jim. He'll land somewhere

so the bible of football says "thou shalt not runneth outside the tackles if thy quarterback is severely handicapped"? ok. you make sense now

If all you care about is how many he’s 28-8. So you’re onboard now, right?

Now that the shock and awe of the hire has worn off, and I have made myself abundantly clear of I what think of the hire, it is just time to sit back and watch it unfold.

I'm aware of the records. I'm also aware he has done more with less. And that his offense is explosive and will carry over to the SEC. I'm aware that he has coached a Heisman trophy winner in Sam Bradford and had Missouri with the #1 offense in the SECin 2016. I'm also aware that his teams have sustained an average of 42 points a game over a 3 year period. His offense's are on par with Clemson, Oklahoma, and Alabama That's damn good company.

You fail to mention his lone loss in 2018 was to a #11 ranked LSU by a margin of 3 points who went on to boat race everyone and win the NC.

In 2019 his 3 loses were by a total of 7 points combined. 1,3, and 3. His offenses scored 34, 24, and 31 points in those losses.

This year looked bad, but he had 10 players opt out and still managed to keep games respectable in those loses. Losing by 1 TD to a ranked Tulsa, 1 point to Memphis, 3 points to a #7 Cincinnati, which scored 12 more points than the "mighty dawgs" could muster against them. His only embarrassing loss came against a #16 BYU.

If you average out his 8 losses it would be a margin of each game being lost by 6 points. Take away the 1 BYU game and it shrinks to a 3 point loss margin. For the most part, he is competing with the better teams and blowing out who he should win against.

If you can't see the potential of a good coach your crazy. I guess your expecting SEC results with an AAC roster?

It's pretty telling when you avg. 42 points a game for 3 years and you still find a way to lose. What he needs is a better defense to help carry his team's.

We'll just have to see how it plays out in the next three years.

No, we've not been getting AAC talent. Most AAC teams rejoice if they get a 4* recruit, who fell to them because he has grade or criminal troubles. Give me a break and go educate yourself, because you're just making yourself look daft.

Me looking daft.

According to Hyams...

Tennessee coach Josh Heupel on SportsTalk @SportsRadioWNML said today he will hire an offensive coordinator but he will call plays. He said you must treat players differently when taking over an undefeated team (Central Florida) v. a 3-7 team like Tennessee.
This is a red flag IMO. It takes a lot to rebuild a team. Sounds like he is already micromanaging. He needs to hire a quality OC and trust him to do his job.

Just concerned about an HC trying to take in too much responsibility. Delegation is a trait of effective leadership.
Maybe he just wants his own people. Most new head coaches normally don’t retain non or very little of the coaches from prior staffs.

I could see Chaney going somewhere like Georgia Tech if he decides to keep coaching at all.

I can't blame him for this. Hell, I wouldn't want a single member of the previous staff as part of my new group. He's doing the right thing. Clean house...gut it. Start completely fresh top to bottom. Now if he brings Willie with him from UCF...well...I'd have a problem with that. Oh...and Shannon is a no go, too. One thing is for sure, he'd better take a real liking to recruiting or surround himself with some guys who recruit like their asses were on fire. Ain't no way you are gonna win in this league with 2 and 3 star projects. Not happening.
This!

I would rather have CJH coaching QBS than Chaney.

Every UGA fan i know was really happy we took Chaney from them.
Chaney is predictable on his best day

Their offense got worse without him.

Ainge inferred Pruitt would try to take over play calling in the middle of games at times. May explain why would come out flat after half time.

2018 - Went 12-1 Beat a mid-tier ACC team (7-7) and lost to a high-tier SEC team (10-3).
2019 - Went 10-3 Beat a bottom-tier PAC 12 team (4-8) and lost to a mid-tier ACC team (8-5)
2020 - Went 6-4 Beat a bottom-tier ACC team (3-7) and lost to a P5 independent (11-1)

So, on the bright side he should be able to beat Vandy.

Coaching is not like playing Playstation football.

Winning is and will always be a combination of coaching and talent on the field. G5 schools have a lot of really well coached teams, but they are not going to regularly beat P5 schools because of the talent gap. CJH is bringing his system to Tennessee, but its effectiveness will be dependent upon the talent that is currently here and who he can recruit. If he can acquire, develop and maintain SEC caliber talent, there's plenty of reason to believe his system can win in the SEC. He proved that at Missouri.
