Tennessee's in-state class this year is one of the best in recent history. However, if you look back at the last few years of Tennessee's top high-school talent, the rate that go to college and become impact players is significantly low...although the 2007 and 2008 classes had a few first-round NFL draft picks.

2007 - Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com Ranking - Rivals.com Tennessee Top 25 2007

2008 - Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com Ranking - Rivals.com Tennessee Top 20 2008

2009 - Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com Ranking - Rivals.com Tennessee PostseasonTop 35 2009

2010 - Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com Ranking - Rivals.com Tennessee Postseason Top 25 2010

2011 - Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com Ranking - Rivals.com Tennessee Postseason Top 25 2011

Considering how successful the top guys who went to other schools seemed to be, it looks like either our evaluation of in-state talent has been subpar or the development of this talent is subpar. Either way we've been subpar.

a lot of those guys in the top 10 have been at UT at some point - there are still a few on that list that could make significant contributions in their career

also interesting that 3 of those years we nabbed the top player in state

Chris Jordan wouldve been better off coming to UT think he is buried on that UA roster up until this year. - Remember he picked Bama cause they said he could return punts. (possibly - Dominique Allen, Justin Maclin too)

Why didn't we recruit - Brandon Ivory - not that he has done much at Bama
And did we recruit Shaq Love?

Justin Maclin and Dominique Allen are the only ones I wish we could have gotten out of all those. Goof job of picking what we wanted IMO.

IIRC, one or both of his parents were athletes at Bama. He was a legacy player who was never going anywhere else.
