That was interesting to see the local newspaper headlines through the years. Check out the photo from 1935 and look at what Neyland Stadium looked like! Wow. (was it even Neyland Stadium yet?)

Vols are 10-3 in new head coach openers from the Neyland era to today. Unfortunately, we are 0-3 in openers against Power 5 opponents (one loss to Cal, and two to Miss St).
  • Jeremy - West Virginia (TBD)
  • Butch - Austin Peay (W)
  • Dooley - UT Martin (W)
  • Kiffin - Western Ky (W)
  • Fulmer - La Tech (W)
  • Majors - California (L)
  • Battle - SMU (W)
  • Dickey - UT Chattanooga (W)
  • McDonald - Richmond (W)
  • Wyatt - Mississippi State (L)
  • Robinson - Mississippi State (L)
  • Barnhill - Furman (W)
  • Britton - Southwestern (W)
  • Neyland - Carson-Newman (W)
Here's hoping we extend the winning streak and break the Power 5 career opener losing streak, all in this one game vs the Mountaineers.

Go Vols!
