In '08 we caught lightning in a bottle. Fortunate to win against LSU in Baton Rouge; lucky Tennessee & Auburn had down-years (and catching TN in Knoxville on the down-year); lucky no derailing injuries.

While it's unrealistic to expect the same in '09, there are a few factors in our favor. We catch TN & LSU at home and in the latter part of the season when our OL and QB will hopefully have jelled. I don't have an '09 schedule in front of me; but usually we catch Ole Miss in the middle of the season. And a rebuilding Auburn at the end, of course.

Working in TN's favor: I believe we play 7 or 8 games in a row without a break, with TN being the last game in that stretch. We could be fairly beat-up by then. Plus, I think TN has an off-week just before the Bama game. So IMO anyone who views the TN game as an easy win is whistling past the graveyard.

I hope every Bama fan and player sees the result of this years 3rd Saturday in October as a foregone conclusion. Got the big head after 2 victories in a row....I like it.

and you guys have been just awesome since. In two seasons, you've won absolutely nothing and a mythical SECW crown. That sounds like exactly what we have won. The difference, we fired the coach for it and you've hailed yours as the next coming of Bryant.

We all have out-of-touch fans who can't take off the school-color glasses. No way the coaches or players overlook Tennessee. Hey, we've been schooled on what happens when ANYONE is overlooked... :eek:k:

What a refreshing point of view. You are obviously a COLLEGE FOOTBALL fan, and not just a Bama fan. Lot more than can be said for that other joker in this thread. I guess every fan base needs the smack talking, no clue, never played real football types too though.

Yeah... We need 'em in the high schools, and in the stands, and in the bars... but they're pests on CFB blogs. They're harder to ignore.

This could segue to my remarks in another thread wherein I advocated your mods take a tougher stand against smacktalking posters who contribute nothing of interest to a football discussion. Perhaps set up a separate forum for the smacktalkers. Close the smack forum at 9:00PM when it's time for night-night.

But... I was hooted down so I won't bring it up again. :thumbsup:

Good idea, actually. The ignore function is useful but you still see all the responses to trollish remarks. Do other boards have trolls from their own fanbase like VN?

I post over there all the time. We are joking around to piss off a poster named "DD4bama". Don't ever take anything "FTBLFAN" says seriously. He just likes to stir the pot and joke around.

I think thats a GREAT idea. I am on a lot of car forums as well, and almost all of them have a "no limits" forum where any smack talk can go. The other forums are left for ADULT discussion, off topic or blatant ignorant BS (like the other tide fan in this thread spews) is promptly locked. I would love to be able to have a good back and forth discussion with a Bama fan such as yourself, and not have to wade through 14 pages of middle school level insults in the process.
