Longest Losing Streaks for Every SEC Team

In 1988 TN started 0-6, which at least shares in the ”honor”.

Interestingly, that team ended up 5-6 and the next season—1989—was the start of the greatest run in modern Tennessee football history.
Yea, Coach Majors made the tough decision to fire our DC Ken Donahue. He made Doug Matthews DC, and we went from a 5 man front to a 4-3 and simplified the defense. Stayed in that 4-3 for a long time. Hayworth and Hobby were our DE's the '89 season that began about a 15 year run of damn good Tennessee Football.

I remember SC being bad in the late 90's but damn, 21 straight. Won the first game of Sept 5th 1998 and didn't win again until Sept 2, 2000. That's 728 days of being a loser.

The next year the DE’s were Chuck Smith and Chris Mims. Two in the greatest JUCO class TN ever signed that also included Dale Carter, Dave Thomas and Bernard Dafney.

Dafney was the largest man I’d ever sat next to in class, until the 5th class of the semester when he got kicked out for missing 3 of the the first 4.

That's when I really became a vfl. I was 8 and thought that man was awesome. Hard to believe he's been dead for 20 years. Give or take. He's the reason I hate ole piss more the most around here . That and the wifey went to state.

Some of us remember starting off 0-6 during the 1988 season. Some dude camped out on a billboard until Tennessee won a game. I think he was up there for a almost a month.

Here's a good reference I use: Tennessee Historical Scores
I was at the Memphis game that year. I remember Memphis fans wearing 0-7 t-shirts, saw a few in the garbage on the way out.
