A few things really confuse me about the whole terrorism concept:
One, when in the midst of an unpopular war, with a shift of the majority in many countries toward OPPOSING it, why perform acts of brutality that serve in a round-about way to UNIFY a population against your idealogy? Seems that you would be better off seeking the sympathy of the world through evidence of civilian casualties, damage to "holy sites," and prisoner maltreatment.
Two, how can we be expected to empathize with or even tolerate a religious doctrine that not only justifies but MANDATES the killing of innocent civilians in a far-off country during a time of mourning for their lost?
