we are not even done with the season and already Josh Heupel and Alex Golesh are being targeted by multiple teams to fill open spots. this is the firat time in 16 years anyone else in the country has given a sh!t about a Tennessee coach. let that sink in and realize this is a good problem.

to be clear I don't expect Heupel to go anywhere. but always remember that if nobody else is interested in your coach the. you shouldn't be either!

My guess is "coaching tree". Looks good on Heup to have someone from his group to be successful.
Goelsh gets a bigger job he gets better assistants. He runs a similar system. We have people to steal from his staff if we need to replace someone. People want to coach under Heupel because others have had good career growth.

Banks is a better option for HC openings

All college coaches with a winning record are loving this season, it'll be like an Oprah show. You get a raise, you get a raise, everybody gets a raise.
Hire a man like Mike Elko and you can pay $7 million to start 8-0 while someone else pays Kalen Deboer $10.25 million to lose to Florida State or Dabo Swinney $11.13 million to miss the playoffs entirely. Mike Norvell is getting paid $10.3 million in 2025.

The Moneyball era of coaching is coming.

Horns Daily is saying that LSU is coming after Heupel. May be trash, but the dust is swirling. At this point, with 10 or more openings available, anything is possible.
With so many openings, a lot of these schools are going to have the same coaches on their boards so you have to have lots of names even ones that are moonshots…

Kind of like he old Nascar Silly season before it got all corporate.

The sign of a good coach, including assistants, is others trying to take them away or get promoted.

That’s why I think Mike Tomlin of the Steelers is overrated as none of his staff has been promoted.

We don’t know if anyone is targeting Heupel. He’s not gonna be a candidate for the major jobs.
LK has been at OM for 6 full seasons. 72% winning percentage. One top 10 finish. Zero playoff births. Good shot he makes it this year.

JH has completed 4 full seasons for us. 71% winning percentage. 2 top ten finishes. One playoff birth. Still has a chance to make it this year. Took over a far worse situation with scholly reductions and a very dark NCAA cloud over the programs head.
