Mike Slive, I am again forced to ponder how that stooge became the commissioner of the most powerful conference in college sports. He was a running joke in C-USA and just continues that act in the SEC.

You should be thankful that UT will be getting more money from the TV contract next year than ND will be getting from theirs.

It's all about the Benjamins...

SEC has 3 CFB championships in a row
2 more in bball
and no one on proby
dont know much about the guy but think he has done a good job

Yeah, that would never have happened without Slive's masterful leadership. Nobody cared about the SEC til he showed up.

Mike Slive had every bit as much to do with those teams winning the national championship as Rachel Ray.

Not saying that at all. However he was the one who got the contract done. He deserves credit for that.

Before this contract Notre Dame and the Big 10 were banking the big bucks. They're still banking the big bucks but not what the SEC is now.

Is Slive perfect? Who is?

It's my understanding the Kiffin and Slive are now on the same page.

I could care less if Lane Kiffin and Mike Slive are fishing buddies. It doesn't make Slive any less of a pious dweeb.

So it isn't Jeremy Foley that is the AD behind one of the most successful ADs in the county (all major sports considered)...

It's Mike Slive? Brilliant.

I never said he was responsible for that
just pointing out the sec as whole has done very well on his watch. I do understand coach cum didnt advise him on 3rd and long in the championship game.

The dweeb will there for a long time... Wouldn't be surprised to see him stick it out until the current SEC contract expires.

Stating the SEC's accomplishments (that he had no influence over) during his tenure is absolutely crediting him with it.

Credit him with the creation of the SEC Network... not the SECs national success.

Without the on field success, there is no SEC Network. Crediting Mike Slive with the SEC's current financial largesse is akin to saying the NFL is profitable because of Roger Goodell.

I cited sec accomplishments under his watch, you can debate how much influence he had or not thats fine.

You just called him a "stooge" i think. But failed to mention how the league is worse off.

I guess calling him a name without anything to back it up, is a much better argument.

All the SEC network is a syndication deal. The league already decided against an actual network, because all it would do is lose money, like the Big Ten's.

He's a dweeb because he goes around babbling about how he has control of the coaches in his leagues, when nothing could be further from the truth. Sooner or later the Sabans, Meyers, Miles, and Richts will get as tired of his blather as Huggs, Pitino, Cal, Crean, et al got of it in C-USA. Then, he'll take another public gutting.
