Why hasn't anyone thought of starting this thread before now?
Weird!

Also, "Pedo State" is not funny.

Gruden is definitely my first choice with Del Rio, McDaniels and Bob Stoops next. Definitely no Kirk Ferentz, biggest waste of money in football for what he makes and how little he wins in a bad conference. No more LA Tech guys either.

Tedford would be a great oc, but not head coach. He's not roo great of a recruiter.

I'll take Charlie Strong or Peterson. I'll say till the end that Gruden is a pipedream. We either open the checkbook and get a good coach, or stay on with Dools. I'm not for hiring another up and comer like some thought Dools would be.

Thank you for those laughs. I needed them. I love how you list Tedford, who is going to get fired. Ferentz is on the hot seat. And Sumlin is making Sherman look like a fool.

But thank you for my laughs. I wasn't feeling good this morning.

I still cannot understand why Jim Tressel's name hasn't come up. He has a show cause, but No.1 the penalty if we hire him is nothing. He would have to sit out the first 5 games and any bowl game we might go to.

However, that's the worst it would be, but the team can petition the NCAA to reduce or waive the penalties. With him already being a year removed, there will very likely be some reduction.

The guy has coached and recruited consistently well, so he'd have to be my No.3-4 option.

I'm with you, funny thing is OP didn't even list Strong. I'm willing to bet money he's in the top 5 on Hart's list.

I'd rather not hire sneaky liars. JMO.

Mike Sherman is a very nice person and belongs in the NFL.

"Pedo State" makes you look like a jerk.

Gruden isn't coming to UT.

I don't care if he has property in Maryville, his wife is a former UT cheerleader, and he owns a Blue Tick Coonhound. He is not going to give up his meal ticket at ESPN to take over a declining program and deal with the unrealistic expectations of the fanbase.

You mean the same fans that have painted him the messiah to our program?

I agree in the case of Petrino...but Tressel's mistake isn't worth all that much. I think Michigan fans really pushed for sanctions because they just couldn't beat the guy. I mean big freaking whoop if some of the players sold some of their memorabilia, and he didn't think it was the NCAA's business.

I'm sure he learned from it. Doesn't make him a scumbag like Petrino.

THAT'S the kind of guy I want here. A Saban or Spurrier (ala UF fun n gun days) coach that frustrates the dickens out of his chief rivals.

I don't need a link, I have common sense.
Yeah. Common sense said Saban going to Bama didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell. You don't know any more than anyone else here, so quit trying to speak as if you know something.

Declining program? Are you serious? Obviously it's being driven into the ground by a coach who can't close games out. A guy who has a 4-16 record in the SEC. This is a premier coaching destination in the NCAA. As a fan base we should expect championships, or at least competing for them. You set your bar low if you wish, but this is not the UT that I grew up watching. They will make a home run hire, and we will be back to prominence. I'm sure you're just fine with our guys "workin' like heck" and settling for 8-5 seasons. GTFO with that nonsense. This is UT. You want mediocrity, root for Vandy. I hear their tickets are going for 1.74 on stubhub, should be an easy transition.

Right. And Saban was never going to leave Miami for Alabama. Money talks, and this guy wants to coach. Everyone speculated that he would get back into coaching, and now is his chance. You have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. Some of these guys actually do, and have a track record of being right. Not saying that they are, but I have confidence in some of them. I hope you have plenty of hot sauce, you'll need it for that crow you're going to eat.

or you could just admit that you have no more of a clue than anyone else. people have a right to believe he's coming here, just like you have a right to believe he is not. both opinions are obviously valid, but you're saying were delusional for believing. obviously were going to give it right back to you..

I think it's less delusional for me to think Gruden isn't going to give UT the time of day than for others to pull sources out of their asses that say he's already landed at the airport.
