I either seriously overestimated our lines or underestimated theirs. We got whipped. I’m afraid SEC play could be ugly. What are y’alls take on it. We’re they just way better than expected?

I was really disappointed in the D line. The O line seems to get better as the game went on. The only thing to do is recruit and develop freshman.

Their defense was better than I expected for sure.

Yeah our D line was pretty terrible. It seemed like our O line improved a lot after the first quarter, which I'm hoping was just first game jitters. Bottom line is if we can't get pressure with 4 guys and stop the run we're in for another long season.

I just watched Cincy push UCLA backwards on the goal line for a TD. We on the other hand were pushed backwards every time. The O-line was horrible.

Gonna be the worst defense in the SEC again if the DL doesn’t get significantly better. And the only way that happens, imho, is development of the younger/new players....it ain’t gonna happen with Taylor, Kongbo, Tuttle and Phillips. They’re just not SEC level players.

Such a shame but I think you’re right. They’ve had the opportunity.

But my question is why? They’re highly ranked/recruited players but play like FCS level players. I was originally blaming Butch and his shenanigans but i don’t think that’s the problem, these guys are just not what they’re were ranked as

The rankings are bogus. In the age of everybody wins a trophy, one of the reasons they all win is because of too many high school divisions. Tennessee used to have 3 classes. You lose one game, you don't go to the playoffs. Back then, there weren't that many of UT's stars that were from Tennessee. Why? Because there were not that many good players from Tennessee! I don't think that has changed. All the divisions have just watered down the competition and made more players appear to be great.

I’ve always heard it attributed to the population boom in and around Nashville.
