Is it under warranty? If so I would go that route but backup any data on a flash drive if you can before you send it in. If its not under warranty the lens may just need cleaning. Pretty simple to disassemble & you will have to take the shell off the bluray drive. If its under warranty & you disassemble it then the warranty will be void.

Pretty sure it isnt. Ive had it 4 years. The blue led light is on though like its running the disc

I guess you got nothing to lose by trying yourself then. Need a small Phillips screwdriver & a small torx screwdriver. A Q-tip to clean the lens & maybe a can of air to blow everything off while you have it open. Of course it could be more like the drive itself being shot.

Ive cleaned it not to long ago. The more i read it sounds like the laser in the blu ray

Cc how do i copy all my game data, saved data etc to a usb

If its game data it should be in the game column near the top. When you find it hit triangle & copy. If you're contemplating a new ps3 you can do a transfer from one ps3 to another with an Ethernet cable. I mentioned the flash drive because if you send it in under warranty you rarely get the same one back. If you don't have alot of data the USB may be easier. Anything you purchased from PS store can be downloaded again for free.

Why is the bulky 60 gb 400 dollars and 160 gb slim 250. Best place to buy one? Got my last one at circuit city. Miss that place. Way better than best buy

I haven't seen a fat ps3 in a long time & thought they had quit making them. I usually just go to Walmart. The slim is $250 like you said though. The 2 yr extended warranty is about $20 extra.

Bear, your opinion. It best to transfer my data, saved utility, demos through ethernet cable or use a usb?

Mmmm not sure, I have never done that. If I had to make an educated guess, I would say USB
