I love the aggressiveness we played with Saturday, but instead of going for the interception, make the play on the back/WR/TE. We got killed with our players trying to end the game on an INT. Play the man and on the first 1st series, if we play man instead of trying to pick, they never make the first. Sorry, played too many downs at the college level to let this go. Not saying Shoop told them to make the play on the ball but you are taught to make the play, whatever it might be, (bat down, PI,tackle on catch) I think and I haven't seen any mention of this yet, but we gave up way too many yards with this approach. It didn't happen just once but three times. Watch the tape replay.

I know the never give an inch attitude all DB's feel, but there has to be a time you play smart.

This WR core from A&M is going to punish us if we don't play sound solid coverage and football. Best group of receivers we'll see this year. Bama has two that can kill us but every WR on A&M roster can torch us.

Not a negavol, just stating the obvious to a degree!

Sorry, not meaning to be negative in the least bit. DB's have to step up. They learn it in HS!

That's not being negative. I like the way we have the confidence to go for the game ender. The same for going for the strip while making a tackle, sometimes it creates a missed tackle, but other times it creates the turnover. The situation may dictate how aggressive to try to create a turnover but once a 1st down is made so what if they get another 3 or 4 yards, go for the strip or pick, it could change the game. If a runner knows that everytime we get a chance we are going to be pulling at the ball that runner may run different to secure the ball better, when that happens we have an edge.

First guy should go for the tackle. The ones that hit him next should go for the strip of the ball.

Yep. My coaches always went with the same philosophy. Every tackle, whether single or double or even if its a gang tackle, the first guy who gets there has the duty to wrap the guy up. Next one can go for ball strip. We have seen too many guys trying to strip the ball and in process give extra 2-3 yards easily.

First guy knows he's got back up coming and they will clean his clock. Get the strip, change the game. Complimentary football.

I could have sworn we did intercept a pass that rightfully should have ended the game had the offense not gone in to turtle mode as always. I agree mostly with what you are saying, OP. But if our guys start picking off A&M Saturday I doubt there will be too much complaining.
