I enjoy looking at Rivera's paintings (random i know lol). They just have so much history and meaning behind them, he put a lot of his own heart in his paintings. It's fun to try to figure out what he's really meaning to paint instead of what he painted lol.
Seeing the Cambell's can on your post reminded me that I went to an exhibit on Warhol at tOSU early in the fall. The exhibit featured lots of video including a video of a guy doing a portrait of Warhol while holding the paintbrush with his cheeks, not the facial ones. I'm just not cut out for the world of high art.
I'd be the first to say that Warhol is hit or miss with people. It's out there, but honestly, the best artwork is the least common.
I can't believe I forgot to mention MC Escher... he's my favorite artist by far. Every single one of his works is a masterpiece. I love how they all are types of illusions, also. And something so perfect done on a lithograph... amazing.
I always loved it when Bob Ross would pull a rodent out of his shirt pocket midway through some skyline or happy tree that went off the boundries of the painting. That was awesome.
I tried my hand at a multimedia piece last night as a gift for a friend... It didn't come out so well... I've never painted before and... I need to practice.
However, I did make my own easel for $4 from stuff at the hardware store I work at. They want $80+ for one at the art store... screw that! LOL.
