Lets See If This Makes ESPN

It won't be reported on because it's not news! I'm a Kiffin guy. But as much as I appreciate the new discipline and GPA levels, it's still not news. You don't report on people doing what they are supposed to do. You report on people when they aren't doing what they are supposed to do. To steal a couple of lines from Chris Rock if I may, reporting that our kids are not getting in trouble and are going to class is like saying, "I ain't never been to jail". You aren't supposed to go to jail. Am I supposed to applaud you for that? "I take care of my kids". Really? Aren't you supposed to take care of your kids? Sorry fellas... it's not ESPN hating the Vols. It's just not news.

Formula for Success on the Football Field: Conditioning + Preparation + Focus + Intensity + Execution = Wins.

It's June. I would venture to say that four out of the five are already in place.

September will tell.

Go Vols.

In a fair world, ESPN (or anybody for that matter) would run this story immediately after covering the offseason criminal enterprises of the gators.

NICE on the Chris Rock HBO special quotes! One of my all-time favorite stand-up performances.

You're right, though. The news doesn't headline: Local Man Helps a Broken Down Elderly Couple, or High School Student Improves Grades! The media is full of negative and frightening stories, even if they are in the minority of daily life. Glad you realize that. Many that don't are suckered into a pessimistic outlook.

I might criticize a few things that the coaching staff has said or done, but all in all, I think that there is a very positive vibe about the program, and I look forward to seeing some results on the field and in recruiting. It's a very welcome change, for me!

if espn would report on this imagine the impact it would have on recruits that are still undecided about UT...good stuff

I'm going to regret posting this due to instant backlash from mentioning urban meyer, but UFs team gpa has gone up each year meyer has been in gville to the point that UF football is 2nd only to vandy in team gpa and graduation rate. how many of you saw the espn special on that?
again, I'm not posting to bring up more meyer bs, but this whole conspiracy theory thing some of you think espn has towards ut is getting old.
i'll agree that they only report the negative, but its pretty consistent across the board.

I agree but you left off the most important part of the equation. You must have the best players to be successful. If it were just about conditioning, preparation, focus, intensity, and execution Army would be undefeated every year.

I would still rank Coach Fulmer ahead of Coach Majors, he did win a NC for us. Coach Majors was a great coach and did a did a good job but CPF did a really good job until the last few years. JMO

I was getting ready to make the same comment.

From Knoxville Magazine article linked down the board:

In spite of the discipline issues that have plagued UT's players over the years, Coach Kiffin deserves another applause for his team ending the school year with the highest semester GPA in over five years.

And also this:
"There was a lot of running at 5am when I first arrived for being late and missing curfews," Lane said. "We've seen that drop off a lot. You can't just show up on Saturday and be accountable."

would you want ESPN to waste airtime on this for another school? I wouldn't.

Next thing you know, Bill Landry of the Heartland Series is going to get the drop on them. Watch and see - somewhere amongst a butter churning episode, they'll mention that Scroggins has committed.

EXCELLENT POST! :salute:

You gotta bring in the talent and then work on them everyday to make them the best on and off the field.

That's great news but it also reminds me how worthless CPF was as a coach over the last few years.
