Which means Dooley will be 19-19 at Tennessee going into his 4th season. Would next year be his last try?
What would his SEC record have to be to keep his job?
What if we place 4th in the East? Is he gone?
Discuss.

For my part, I'd be ecstatic. Don't know what it means for Dooley's job, but it would be great for me as a fan, for the players, for the university. That's all that matters. And I'd be glad for Dooley too, given how much he's dumped on week in and week out.

The coaching situation will sort itself out.

Yeah, the poor guy needs a break, pardon the pun, not just a broken hip.

I for one hope we win out. The sad part is, some people on this site don't. When some in the fanbase start hoping for a loss (for any reason), it's ******* wrong.

IMO, if he goes 8-5 he's back next year. I know it's not what everyone wants to hear, and I'm not real excited about the thought either, but I think that's what happens assuming he wins out. Now, you might see Sunseri be the scapegoat and get the boot after only one season however. Our defense is horrific.

To hell with This clown. It's time to stop the Jokes and there isn't a coach in Football that would be 0-5 in the SEC and sit around laughing and telling jokes!

He'd still only have conference wins over Ky & Vandy. Oh - and that Ole Miss game a couple of years ago. He'd still be 0-15 against the ranked teams.

So the best he could do19-19 and 2/3rds of the wins coming against non-BCS and directional schools.

Great...now I'm depressed. What was the question again?

They want wins. They want losses. They want to lose until we win. I swear, some of our fans are just plain illogical. It's treason to wish the Vols lose and they should be excommunicated.

Hart should fire the fans fanning the flames under Dooley's seat, and it won't be so hot.

8-5 means absolutely nothing. His SEC overall record and laughable record in the east is why he will be fired.

sorry guys... it just pisses me off in year 3 and the guy still thinks this crap is funny. Maybe he should be one of the family's Like mine that save up all year to go support our team and sit and watch the coach after yet another SEC loss crack jokes and smirk around. I would much rather see some Fire , I will get it fixed. We will not play like that. I feel bad for these players ..no wonder Tyler laughs on the side lines we are The University of Comedy!

I just want UT to win. I don't give a crap who does it. WIN NOW! Heck with later. Win this week. Win against anybody. "I don't give a crap who is across the field! This is Tennessee!"-Fulmer 2003 Miami pre-game

I would love for us to go 8-5 its a strong possibility be great for the players and the program, but time to thank Dooley for doing his best and wish him luck in his future endeavours. There is no reason to put everybody through another year of this torture,he would have to win almost every week to keep from people wanting him fired next year, just unfair to put him in that situation.

8-5 means a whole lot to these players and to any fans who actually want success for the program.

Really? Here I thought conference wins actually matter as a measuring stick to the team, program, and fans.

Thanks for clearing that up.

0-12 against Fla, Georgia, Alabama, and SCar equals Dooley being toast

He hired Sunseri so that dog won't hunt. Too many people who don't talk out of thier butt are saying Dooley is done. There probably won't be an announcement until the replacement signs an MOU. I can enjoy the rest of this season knowing that Dooley will not be back. It's actually liberating. GBO VFL TIFWIW

Year 1, Dooley inherits a very very good HIGH SCHOOL TEAM.

Year 2, Dooley brings the team up into Championship Subdivision level of play. The passing is there but no ground game.

Year 3, Sal is hired to bring in the 3-4 defense (which we know takes time to learn). We now have a ground game to go along with our passing = SEC OFFENSE

Year 4. Dooley/Sal fixes the defense by however means and UT wins 11 of 12 taking the SEC EAST and a second shot at alabama in the SEC championship game.

With the shape the roster was in when Dooley took over and switching to the 3-4 to upgrade our defense, THE MAN NEEDS ANOTHER YEAR and I hope for the VOLS sake he gets it.
I LOVE ME SOME VOLS FOOTBALL, and I feel that this would be best for UT. I thought we would win 1 or 2 against uga, mst, fl, or usce, but the defense was not ready for primetime.
If the team struggles again in 2013 then make a coaching move but not until.
Whatever happens I will support the UT VOLS Coach and Team.:hi:

Going 8-5 is horrible and do you want to know why? 3 of those wins come against Akron, Georgia St and Troy. So why does Dooley get credit for an 8-5 season when we play 3 horrible out of conference opponents? These teams aren't even as good as a MAC team. Akron gave us fits til the 4th quarter and they're 1-8.
