I copied this a couple weeks ago from somewhere on the board, so whomever I stole this from, my apologies for not giving credit. I've updated it with recent developments over the last couple of weeks.

Please let me know if you guys see anything that missing or incorrect.

Update 1/9/20: added Cade Mays, Velus Jones and Trey Smith (had assumed he wouldn't return). By my count that puts us at 69 scholarship players. We signed 21 during the early signing period, which makes 90.

***[edit: the breakdown was originally posted by @smokeyz1. I didn't double check everything, so if it's wrong blame him. I kid. Thanks for your work, @smokeyz1.] -- Scholarships

Does that mean we can get some more transfers to fill the rest of the spots Freak, if we have to?

We have the opposite problem, it seems to me. With 67 on the roster, we'd need to trim seven more in order to sign a full class of 25 this year and stay under the 85 roster limit.

I understand some about transfers and the numbers, but not all of it. I remember reading someone that copy and pasted the rules before, but I think I may have forgotten how that goes. I may have to dig again, so I can understand the transfer rules again.

I think I understand it but I still get it wrong all the time. lol. Basically, you can sign 25 in a class, that's a hard cap for signees. But there's also an initial counter rule, where you can't bring in more than 25 players in an academic year, which includes transfers.

I kept hearing we weren't going to have a full roster of 85 next year, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Granted, I may be completely off somewhere, and if so, hopefully someone will correct me.

Ohh. Ok! I understand now. Thanks for explaining that to me. I’m still going to read up on the transfer rules again.👍

I hope we do get to 85. I think it would help us big time. If you or anyone else is off, I’m sure someone will help you out here. Thanks again.

Thought I’d heard CJP say numerous times that we only have 65 players on Scholarship. This looks right but surprises me

Looks like your list is right so far. Only way we can stay within the 85 next year is for more to transfer or not renew the scholarships next year for some of the PWO’s that have received one (don’t really see that happening as they would leave ultimately).

Is the TE A. Craig coming back next year for his last year or moving on? Asking because I saw he walked the T on Sr. Day

I think you're correct. This is the list of seniors that were honored. He's listed as a redshirt junior but must not be planning on returning.

  • Matt Ballard
  • Daniel Bituli
  • Tyler Byrd
  • Marquez Callaway
  • Andrew Craig
  • Jauan Jennings
  • Darrin Kirkland Jr.
  • Landon Knoll
  • Riley Lovingood
  • Chip Omer
  • Darrell Taylor
  • Nigel Warrior
  • Dominick Wood-Anderson
  • Jake Yelich

I was curious about that too. Also JG graduated already I think.....Or is about to. So does he stay on scholarship even if he isnt in school? Does he have to attend graduate classes to keep playing?

Should be a good roster next year for UT, plenty of guys returning with big time SEC experience.

Who will be the guys filling in for Jennings and Callaway at WR? Those two are big time and will be hard to replace. Although I haven’t studied it much yet, WR seems like it may be the one position of concern. Right or wrong?

J. Palmer, D. Gibbs, B. Johnson, R. Keyton, C. Tillman are the top names that come to mind. But it will certainly hurt losing those two guys, no doubt.

Good stuff. Thanks @smokeyz1 and Freak for your work here.

So our recruiting class is full currently. We have 18 verbal commits with one being a soft verbal. I hope that the recruiting math-magicians can figure out how to get 25.

They'll get to 25 somehow, I believe. Magic dust or something like that. lol.

We will have two seniors at WR next year in Palmer and Johnson both have good experience but are young after those two. Also LB will be of some concern.

I always get confused with the numbers especially when I hear Pruitt talk about being about 20 players light this year? I do know that Pruitt has done something Butch never did, which is keep the nucleus of classes together avoiding mass defections of highly touted guys every year, which keeps your team perpetually young. Historically, “old” teams, even if not top shelf talent seem to do pretty well...Miz overboast few years, KY last year, MST last few years.
