We as a program are coming off a losing season in possibly the lowest point of this program's history. We bring in our four head coach five years and no telling how many assistant coaches have come and gone in that same time. We have been in the crosshairs of the NCAA since Kiffen left. Our new staff has had less than two months on the job.

Even with these factors, we will have a top 25 recruiting class. That is even with us finishing second on many top flight recruits

Green (Michigan)
Bell (OSU)
Lawson (auburn)
Boyd (Pitt)
Levenberry (FSU)
Bellamy (UGA)
Ford (Auburn)

I believe that the only thing keeping us from closing some of them out is the lack of success on the field. Lets get that squared away this season and we will raise again.

And for the vandyass that are ready to call our demise, have your fun and be sure to take some pictures. We are ranked 1 spot behind you and while some vols are jumping off the local bridges, your fanbase is debating on if this is your schools greatest class. That's cause your vandy and you will always suck. Remember, if at first you don't succeed, your vandy

Top 25 Nationally = 11th in the SEC. We have to stop settling for finishing second with top guys. We need them to be more competitive in the SEC.

That is not getting "real" in my book. #9 in the SEC recruiting when we were already behind does not improve us compared to who we must compete against, now that is real.
I know we cannot do much about it now, but let's at least acknowledge were we "really" are.

Auburn had a worse year than us last year and replaced nearly the entire coaching staff plus they are on the cusp of NCAA probation...

they did alright

Not to knock CBJs staff because I like that he brought his staff with him, but Malzahn did do an incredible job with his coaching staff. That's one reason they were so successful.

Malzahn had SEC connection. He brought in staff that had SEC connections and could build on it. CBJ had to build new ones. Give one more year and lets see how he does.

Auburn is committed to winning and settling the score with Bama. We aren't, and it shows on days like today.

Most brilliant post I've seen today.

Its pretty simple. To consistently win in the SEC, you have to consistently recruit the top players to your school, and of course, coach em up.

Two years removed from a National Championship sure don't hurt verse our 4 losing seasons in 5 years. Kids look at that.

Thank you. Our fans don't want to accept that Auburn just won a national championship quite recently. We haven't had a good season since 2007.

The thing about saying "let's get real" and talking about how low our program is and how Auburn won a championship and what not is that it doesn't matter. What matters are results. Did we gain any ground on Alabama or Florida today? No. It's another signing class that puts us further behind talent-wise. Did we gain any ground on Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Arkansas? No. Did we lose ground to programs like Ole Miss and Vanderbilt? Most definitely. It doesn't matter if we started from behind. If we never gain any ground (and even losing ground, as it appears we're doing), then we will always be behind.

They did alright a couple of years ago in the NCG too. How long has it been since Tennessee won one of those?

They also had a much better class heading into the coaching change. It's way easier to hold onto a class with two months left than it is to build an elite class from scratch in just two months.

Did you even look at the numbers next to the national rankings? Yes we lost ground to Ole Miss, but Vandy we actually pulled in better talent. The only reason they are ranked higher is they filled out their class with crappy players, something I'm glad CBJ didn't do just to get a small boost in rankings this year. The extra space for next years class will help us when CBJ and staff have a full year to recruit top players

When you can't land a kid who says his heart was in Tennessee but his head said OSU, you have a problem! It's gotten to the point what home talent we do have won't even stay here!! But every year I get built up reading everything just to see it unravel in the end. I blame myself!

It's a fact ALA., FLA., LSU play for Nat. Champ. they recruit 5*'s they get 5*'s they win. Jones had 2 months to make an impression on a kid who reported to LOVE TN always wanted to play here and went to OSU. He and his staff were in his home more than he was. And couldn't close the deal. That tells were this program is. For those who said he didn't have enough time with a kid that loved TN and *'s don't mean a thing SEE ABOVE. I say come on man. I heard 10 years somewhere I the last months that's about right.
