Beating Texas A&M on the road would be a monumental upset without 4 of our best players ( Hurd, Maybin, Sutton and Kirkland). With 3 of our best 4 defensive players out we have been using smoke and mirrors the past 2 weeks to win and Eventually teams are going to pick on Jumpers lack of athleticism and attack the middle of the field. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't have a good feeling about this weeks game without these 4 players.

Interesting point. I haven't read this view at all in any thread.

Common sense would agree with you. However, the Aggies have a long tradition of gagging on the big one. For some reason, I have a good feeling about this game. If we can hang around until the fourth quarter, I predict they will make a couple of major mistakes to giftwrap an upset victory for us.

One disclaimer: must figure out a way to help Kendrick block Garrett. Normally, that would be Hurd's job. Maybe use some Croom lined up over there to help.

Agree. Our O line tackles could be in for a long day. Hopefully Garrett doesn't play and that would even things out a little bit.

Yes, if he is out, or limited, that would help matters.

For some reason, I have a good feeling about this one.

The best way I'm aware of to neutralize a pass rush DE is run power flood runs right at em, screen plays, slants, bootlegs.

I'm not getting my hopes up. We're definitely the underdogs. However I completely disagree that we've been using smoke and mirrors to win up to this point.

If this team is going to be competitive in Atlanta and play for the SEC championship and more, this is a game they will find a way to win regardless of setbacks. We know they'll play for 60 minutes. What happens next year when Sutton, JRM, Hurd, Dobbs, possibly Kamara are not on the team should we just fold like a deck of cards? I think the Vols get the W Saturday. It is not an impossible task.

It won't take a miracle by any means to win this game. What I'd like to see- in contrast to previous games - is mistake-free football. I don't think that's an unreasonable ask.

It's amazing to see how the fan base has changed over the past four years. When we played Oregon in 2013, the defeat was all but inevitable. It was like watching the train wreck you knew would happen. Beating Alabama was a pipe dream. We thought we had no chance against UGA, USCe and Florida.

Now?

Sure, there's some holdouts, but by and large, we expect to go into College Station and compete even as dinged up as the team is. There's a grudge match coming in Neyland next week against Bama. And by and large, the rest of the schedule looks to be a cakewalk after the bye week resulting in a 10-2 record at worst and staring at the SEC CG for the first time in nearly a decade. Our fans expect this team to do great things and continue competing and winning against foes that were accepted defeats just four years ago.

Hurd is not officially "out" as he is a game time decision. Even without him, I believe several new players can and will step up to the plate to help us win this victory 🏆. For some reason I have an overwhelmingly good feeling about this game...🏟

Please there has been no "smoke and mirrors" - just 11 players out there giving their ALL on every play to stop the other team's offense. The players that are hurt are still supporting the team and encouraging them why can't you?

Suggesting "smoke and mirrors" shows that you haven't even been watching the games or that you don't know anything about the game.

It just seems like the inevitable for this team to do really great things... How awesome would it be for this team 120 to go 12-0... Would be a monumental moment in Tennessee history..

I found a gif but I think it's NSFW.

I think the "smoke and mirrors" has been the first half of our games. Trick the other teams into thinking they have a chance to win, and then punch them in the mouth and take their candy.

Enough with the Houdini act. Tomorrow is 60min of focused, aggressive Tennessee football that is going to leave the talking heads grasping at new ways to spin the success of team 120.

This game reminds me of the basketball game against Kansas in 2010. We had just gotten 4 role players arrested (different I know), including our best player in Tyler Smith, with the #1 basketball team in the country coming to town and we flat out outplayed them. Got the upset. Play their best game and UT wins. Simple as that. Come out flat, and we get beat.
