I know that every one of us struggles with BVS. After long years of shattered hopes and dreams, we have an allergy to getting our hopes up.

But after the last couple days I'm starting to wonder if maybe this is our time. Look at this lineup. Balance. Experience. Elite talent. I'm ready to see something special finally. I'm ready to believe. Let's do this!

It’s a great lineup, but the SEC will be loaded next year. Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Kentucky, etc. They all had big off-seasons.

Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. It’s going to take a great coaching job by Barnes, but there is a lot to be excited about for sure.

The SEC is loaded but we definitely can play with any of them. Going to be fun mainly because we have added the power to the post game. I don't see much drop off of the perimeter game which should be far better from the three. If Barnes can get these guys in sync defensively this looks like a team that could be hard to handle by any team in the nation.

Where is that clown that wanted to replace Barnes with the Wake Forest coach with the losing record?

Here's the glass half empty, cautionary summation: Our point guard will a a freshman, five star or not. The back-up point guard is not a real point guard. Our most talented posts will be freshmen. Our transfer wing from Auburn is almost just a freshman. Except for Fulky, none of our experienced post depth has developed yet to the point they can be counted on. None of our outside shooters have shown consistent accuracy in their careers.

So to get this team to gel and hit on all cylinders by tournament time in 22 will take a great coaching job by the staff and need a huge, dedicated effort by the players.

And don't forget that staff is 50% different too.

Glass half full scenario is we have Vescovi, JJJ and Fulky back as experienced multi year starters. Bailey played a lot of minutes and ORN and Plavsic have seen the court. Number 1 rated PG in country that has played against high level competition coming in along with a transfer, Powell, from Auburn that has played D-1 ball at a high level. Add a 5 star and borderline 5 star in the post and we have on paper a talented team with a nice mix of experience and young talent. Like Keon and Springer this year, freshman can expect some ups and downs but the potential to be really good is here.

Yes, you are correct. There is a lot of reason for optimism. I especially like that there will be a lot of upper classman leadership in the front and back court groups: Fulky, Bailey are seniors, & SV, JJJ, ORN, Plavy are juniors, all who have been through a lot of wars, and together in those wars. A nice mix of youth and experience and tremendous talent. I can't wait for the season.

Gonna be some nice battles this year. Between Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee it’s gonna be battle for the top .

I’m not following any Ky hype at this point. They have basically replaced guys with like, kind and quality. They have missed on almost all the big ones they wanted. They are a distant 4th-5th at this point with Auburn.

I am going to make a prediction that this is the year JJJ emerges as a 1st team SEC player. I think he already does a lot and is under appreciated by fans and around the SEC. This year I think he realizes he can be the best player on the court every time he goes out there and shows out.

Last year’s roster was great, but the talent was sort of in the wrong places- guard heavy without much in the way of offensive post presence. Fulkerson was pretty much it and as amazing as he is, he’s not going to carry a team from there. Barnes wants to play inside-out basketball, so that’s hard to do without a dominant post presence to draw in defenders. Keon and Springer did some of that with drive-and-kick action but it’s just not the same as a dominant big.

Now we have that in BHH. Aidoo will probably need some development but can give us minutes and maybe more late in the year. We have more experience and development from promising guys like JJJ plus a new level of talent at point guard. We can play inside out with real post guys, added a promising 3 point shooter in Powell, and still have plenty of athleticism outside.

In short- we don’t necessarily have more talent than last year. We may even have less. But the skills that talent includes suits our desired style of play much better and there’s reasons to think it’ll yield better results.

I think we go 35-0 next year and be the first undefeated men's team in like 700 years.

Think I'll reserve the excitement for February. If we've got 20 wins and are a lock for the Tourney I'll give a yip or 2.

Remember when Grant Williams shot an extra 1000 3-pointers every day in the offseason then came back the next season with a better 3?

Our men this season have the same opportunity.

This team is as deep as Pearl's best teams. Time will tell about how far they go.
Can Barnes actually beat Pearl in a basketball game? I'm sorry. I find him losing to Pearl every time extremely disheartening and annoying. I'm sick of Barnes teams losing early in the SEC and ncaa tourneys no matter how good we are. I do however... appreciate that with Barnes we're at least not perennial bottom feeders and we have national respect. I truly do.

I somewhat agree with you, but this is basketball. We’ve all seen 18 year olds have very good, productive seasons. I honestly feel that if given a normal off season, last years squad could’ve been a little better. The one thing I have a hard time grasping, is Barnes turning the team over to a true freshman PG. we all know how hard he is on that position. Will he trust Chandler?
GBO!!
