Let's be honest

Watch ol Saban let us hang within a TD just to help BJ keep his job.

Saban would have to score for us. He'd have to tell Hurts to hand the ball off to Shy Tuttle and let him score. They'd have to intentionally get 15 safeties to keep it close.

Just so he doesn’t cut Shy off at the knees and throw his helmet at him, I’m ok with it.

Bud. I remember the last Fulmer teams, as well the Dewlee teams. they were horrible. Quite honestly we were outgunned when Kiffin was here. Butch has brought us back.
He deserves a chance to fix it. This year.

Jack I wish you had been my Daddy when I was in high school. You are so forgiving.

Me: Hey Dad, I’m really sorry I wrecked the car for the third time this month, flunked out of school, and knocked up my girlfriend again.

Dad Jack: That’s ok, son, I know you’re really a good individual. Do better next time, ok, son.

We fans have hung in there for the past 15 years with really nothing showing things WILL EVER improve. We have bought tickets and concessions, watched on TV, bought merchandise, but we are as irrelevant today as we were when Dooley was coaching. Things are not going to get better. They really aren't. If fans will be honest with themselves, they know this. What can the AD do to change our minds?

We are irrelevant as fans, but our money isn't.

Uh, he has his chance this year. He's already lost to two of our biggest rivals. What could you possible be seeing that tells you he is "the guy"?

Haha...15 years? Better temper expectations young pup. UT went 50 years between national titles. Hell, we couldn't snag one with a generational type player at QB surrounded with the best talent I've seen collected at UT....ever....in my 60 years. The 90s were an aberration. They were not the norm. We are an 8-9 win program historically. The Stars will align for us again. Might not be in my lifetime but one never knows. Just enjoy what you can when you can and stop dreaming of sec or national titles.....at least until Saban calls it quits.

I have resorted to a believe it when I see it mindset. I've convinced myself that the AD will somehow screw the pooch and we end up with another up and comer instead of going out and hiring a proven winner. That's what the last decade plus of getting your hopes up only to get crushed will get you. I will always root for the Vols to win, no doubt, but I have no confidence in the AD to make the right hire. I'll be honest and say that I am no longer as emotionally invested as I use to be. If we win a game great, if we lose a game it's expected. That's where I am at.
I tend to think the new Ad knows what Crap hires have done for us and he will seek the advice of PM and the big boosters. I think he will go for the big ones with big bucks

And the UMASS game. We should have won by thirty. The worst team in the country.

Unless JG or McBride transforms into a Heisman candidate prior to SCjr game, Butch is done. 7-5 won't cut it.

7-5 with a top 5 recruiting class, and noticible improvement in a transition year would cut it.

UT is/was setting up to be much better team next year with a good number returning. This is falling apart as I see more transfers coming. Unexpected Jones to slide to center and Boulware to move in at guard. Apparently, it's bad, because Boulware does not have a redshirt and is transferring to sit our and play one year.

The bigger problem is noticible improvement. UT has looked absolutely horrid at times on both sides of the ball, but specifically offense and has shown no progress. In fact. The flashes the offense showed late in the GT game have never resurfaced. Inept, would be a good word.

An experienced line and gifted RBs should've allowed the coaches to implement a hand on the ground, fire off the ball, run game, that sets up the pass. Instead, as evidenced by the 1st play at UGA (empty back field) all WRs running shallow routes) it hasn't. That is incompetence. When a former UT QB is on TV diagramming the play and shaking his head, it's bad.

This would have been a good year for Butch to run some under center, let his Oline put a hand in the dirt, grind some clock, huddle pre-snap, and keep his D off the field. It couldn't have been handled worse.

With the coaching changes and comments out of Fall camp, I actually expected this. Butch knew his roster. Any competent coach could have seen what needed to be done. Any decent coach can see how the passive blocking is hampering the strengths of your oline.

Are you quoting me? Maybe i said he was ‘the guy’? Let me clarify...he has earned the chance to make it right.

And, don’t be surprised IF 7-5 does cut it.

I have decided that I am only going to be as invested (emotionally, mentally, financially, and such, you know, as a fan) as the UT administration is.

IF they go big on this next hire, I'm gonna be super stoked and all in. If they hire someone I have to google, I'll watch the games, buy nothing, listen to nothing, read nothing, invest nothing.

I know it won't change anything in UT land, but it will change things in my world.

Dont you realize how easy it is to win a SEC title and NC title. If the AD would just bring in the posters from VN we would be undefeated for all eternity. They just keep hiring losers who try to coach on their own instead of just reading this forum and learning how to be the champs again.

And the "south will rise again" but its been 150 years and the only way we are rising is happening because them damn Yankees are seeing the light and moving here, because their northern world is going to crap. Now as for the Big Orange, We have just tried one of them "damn Yankees" o well, now what.
