Let The Purge Begin!

A sad part of the game, but with only 13 seniors, we need a few more to advance on with their careers.

I agree with the premise, but that article is one of the most poorly written things I've read lately.

If Tennessee is planning to sign a full class of 25 players, as many of the recruiting analysts are saying. We're going to see quite a bit of attrition in one form or another.

I believe -- and someone here can fact check this -- that Tennessee has 84 players on scholarship, only 11 of which are seniors. That's 12 available spots. In order to sign a full class, we'd have to have another 13 spots open up. Correct?

I thought Hyams said we could only sign 22 players this upcoming class because of the 3 grad transfers this year.

That sounds about right and some of our underclassmen might just leave in hopes of making an NFL team :):). That was almost hard to type. I don't think Pruitt is gonna have a hard time making the numbers work. I really believe I could make the numbers work just from watching the games this year :cool:.

McBride is the easy first guess
Latrell Williams and Tyler Byrd have struggled to fit in
Didn't see much from Quarte Sapp the last 4 weeks
Not sure DKjr was happy here either
JJ and MC are at risk for declaring early for the NFL
Lots of OL will be more or less recruited over, so I will say 3 of them
We have a scholly Placekicker that is a Junior - Toser and won't get many chances with Sophomore - Cimaglia on the team.
LB Austin Smith isn't seeing the field much
Several DB (3) are at risk and the smaller TEs (2) as they aren't a great fit.

That's potentially 17 although I hope JJ and MC stay.

Some have mentioned Shamburger. I think he stays and turns into a VG safety.

On a side note, prior to being fired Petrino mentioned that he had over 25 request for transfer with 2 games left in the season.

With depth being a issue, a very thin and not so talented group of linemen coming back on both sides of the ball, and recruiting going poorly compared to our rivals, purging the roster is the last thing we need.
