Kiffin didn’t pay Leavitt anything. Their nil did. He simply wanted the guy he thought gave him the best chance to win. He’s a POS sure but he didn’t stalk Leavitt; I’m sure both parties knew he was coming to Knoxville and agreed to meet. Just how this bs works.

I don't understand how Kiffin gets Leavitt, after the way Kiffin treated him when he thought Williams was available. Not to mention Kiffin gets another highly rated QB yesterday. Doesn't anybody care about lack of morals anymore? How many times does Kiffin have to show his true colors? I would not want my son under his influence. Money is not everything! I would rather my son play for Heupel for 5 millions/year than play for a snake for 6.5 millions/year. Rich is rich! I would think Leavitt could "Squeak by" on 5 million/year. 🤪 🤣🤣🤣

Technically we don’t know of he overpaid. If he has a breakout season it would be money well spent. Additionally, Lane is playing with house money. Low risk, high reward potential.

Most of these players in the portal are not signing NFL contracts, they are getting the money while they can. I don’t blame them, if I was in their situation, I’m getting as much as the bag as I can. We are talking millions of dollars to offer 20-21 year olds, they will never get that opportunity in the job market to make that kind of money realistically. Most of Volnation would take the money and run too.

Some here have a Kiffin complex. Meeting was likely set already. What kiffin did was everything he had to do in order to seal the deal on a kid he wanted to win games for his team. Nothing wrong with that.

Our coaches should actually be a little more aggressive.

Leavitt was high risk but high reward and the possible difference of a playoff season. Not saying he was the perfect choice but could you imagine the matchup in Knoxville next season when Arch Manning came to town??

After watching videos of both our guys I did not see anything telling me these guys are ready for that role yet. I HOPE they are.
Texas and Manning coming to town that early in the season with a sold out stadium for the battle of the UT’s.

Pretty much Peyton's exact same stats when Colquitt got hurt and he became a lanky freshman SEC starter with zero development time.

im not a doctor but that injury is really bad for athletes and especially Leavitts style. If kiffen wants to overpay for an injured guy then so be it. Im glad we didnt get Leavitt and I truly mean that----no sour grapes.

Again maybe its not as bad as it seems but those Lisfranc injuries are brutal.

agreed. If given the option, spending 6 mil on an O-Line to protect the young guys and give them all day to make a play sounds like a better plan than 6 mil on a QB with a questionable foot at this time. I am honestly glad that we are not overpaying for Leavitt, esp if our new edges are real studs that will be chasing him around the backfield the whole game. take that money and add a few other key players rather than put all our eggs in one QB basket. But im not a SEC football coach so who cares what i think.

They love to win at all cost down there. Hell, if you got it like that, why not? That's just the way it is for now. If you want to stay in the race you have to pony up. If not, sit back and watch. Development within the program is key. If you can get guys to stay and develop and trust the process instead of jumping in the portal you wouldn't have to overpay for someone you don't know anything about. Don't get me wrong, some guys deserve the bag, others, not so much.

I don’t care for Kiffin, but he didn’t stalk him. He knew he had the backing of some big money donors to overpay for him, so he did it. It was all about $$$$. Nothing new in the current CFB landscape.
