Perjury is a big deal. I am continually amazed about how the subject is spun by political parties, coaches, and public interest groups. If you lie when you swear you are telling the truth there must be consequences.
It's not perjury when you lie to the NCAA. It's perjury when you lie to a judge under oath, when you are under jurisdiction of a State or Federal Court. The NCAA is not a judicial body and does not even have subpoena power.
Pearl's lie is like lying to your parents about the party you had while they were out of town.
It's an order to show cause why you should be allowed to employ a given coach in whatever capacity you intend to use them in. Generally, the 'AA makes the conditions and restrictions they would place on the target coach's employment so onerous that it's a de facto ban for the period of the order.Hat, is the 'show-cause' order an order to show cause not to fire him, not to take further action, etc..? Is it an order that is given to the AD of UT?
