What is everyone’s thought on the legalization of weed in TN?

Do you think it will happen and if so when?

Also, do you think it will start just medical and stay medical or eventually move to recreational?

Curious on all’s thoughts.

I don’t smoke it and have zero interest in it. It should be legalized, or at the very least decriminalized. Throwing people in jail for a plant is stupid.

This is me too, 100%. I have no want to smoke it, but it’s harmless. It is, in fact, just a naturally occurring plant. The old conservative factions standing in the way of this issue need to get out of the way and deal.

At this point the TBI is having so much difficulty distinguishing between legal canabanoids and marijuana that you might as well legalize it.

I was given a couple of gummies by an extended family member on Thanksgiving for my trip to the Vandy game.
It was my first time for them and I have to admit.... they were awesome.
I think it will eventually be legal here, but probably after many other states pull the trigger

Unfortunately weed will eventually be legalized and the huge corporations will control the market just like cigs and alcohol and the medical and social costs will exponentially skyrocket. If there's money to be made the government and industry don't give 2 hoots in hell about the human damage. I watched it almost ruin my sons life.

It would open up several middle level jobs from people dialing drug tests lol

Weed is generally less dangerous than alcohol. People under 25 shouldn't smoke it heavily because it interferes with a person's ability to emotionally develop and the brain isn't fully developed until a person is about 25. Other than that, I have no problems with it. As has already been said, putting someone in jail for weed is dumb. I personally would like to see other things legalized as well.

More government jobs to heavy regulate it and tax it, more doctors, psychiatirsts, psychologists, counselors, etc. and treatment centers to deal with the addiction, and more corporate $.

Hard to say. People have been howling for casino gambling in this state ever since Tunica opened for business. Still waiting. OTOH, it won't take a state constitutional amendment to decriminalize week at the state level.

Terrible idea....isn’t it as bad for your lungs as smoking? Our lungs were not designed to breath smoke? Enough drunk drivers on the road don’t need more stoned drivers. People who were stoners in high school are pretty much stuck in the drug loop or dead.

Why do you think that?

Because it’s an R majority and the weed lobby is what you would expect a weed stereotype to look like. There is very strong and compelling opposition. Take some time and go listen to the debates and you’ll see for yourself.

His biggest offender was smoking cedar bark, he then moved on to cigarettes and weed. He quit smoking but is still consuming weed.

I'm going to disagree with this and say that the biggest group pushing to keep weed illegal is law enforcement. I'm a conservative, and most people I socialize with are as well and they would all say the same thing as far as make it legal or decriminalize it.

Nah, TSA and the TN Chiefs of Police Assoc do oppose it, but there is a strong R push led by a doctor who is the mothpiece. Im a R btw. Law Enforcement seldom gets what they want and the ever changing civil forfeiture laws are a prime example.
