I saw Page and Plant play about 11 years ago in Knoxville. I just find it a little odd to say this is their first show in 30 years in America.

if bonham and jones aren't part of the show it's not zeppelin at at all.

Bonham is dead, going to be hard to pull that one off. Plant and Page ARE Led Zeppelin.

but a Bonham is still playing drums for 'em. No way is Led Zeppelin any sort of complete without a Bonham on the drums.

That is just silly. Putting Joe Montana's son starting for the 49ers doesn't make them the great 49ers of yesteryear. Page and Plant are Led Zeppelin as far as I am concerned. Plant delivers the vocals and Page the lead guitar.

according to all the critics and everything else i've read about the London show, Jason was amazing on the drums, just like his dad. lead guitar is nice but just a piece of the Zeppelin puzzle.

this a rumor.

and it died off about 3 weeks ago. as is always the case with bonnaroo, believe it when you see it.

John Paul Jones is a critical part of Led Zep.

Plant and Paige screwed JPJ on that Plant and Paige tour. I remember at the Led Zep induction at the RnR HOF, JPJ stood up there with Plant and Paige and said something like "I'm glad these guys finally found my phone #". Priceless.

I've neevr been a fan of Bonaroo (too many damn hippies :p), but I was tempted to go last year. If Zep does comes, I'll certainly give it a shot but I'm not selling a kidney to go. And for the record, Jason Bonham is an excellent drummer.

I certainly hope they find a better venue. There are too many hardcore Zeppelin fans that wouldn't give a crap about any of the other 'roo acts.

this is the most common misunderstood statement about bonnaroo.

It is also true... is everyone there a member of the "unwashed masses"? No. Is there a large contingent of them that you can smell from a mile away? Definitely.

until last year they didn't really have showers set up outside of the VIP area. all they ever had were water stations that were basically portable sinks and fountains. i could always hose off the ole backside after a duece to prevent chaffing but really couldn't do much else.

i don't care who you are, after 4+ days of no showering, you're going to smell.

That's my point, and one of the reasons I've been hesitant to go.

Care to explain the people I smelt on their way to Bonnaroo a few years back? I was working at the M'boro Wal-Mart, and the place stank for days.

Still a lot of confusion re: the early "rumors" surrounding Led Zeppelin and Metallica.

As a former 'Roo attendee, and a non-"hippee," I can say that this is an amazing festival. If you enjoy great music and have at least a reasonable bit of tolerance, get tickets and go. If the "cleanliness" thing is a hang-up, then pony-up for an RV and travel in style.

It really bothers me that people claim to love the music produced by the performers at this show and yet seem too hypocritical to attend. Food for thought. . . .

Superfly made an announcement debunking these rumors. if i was right all the time i'd be in Vegas right now, but i'd say this is a no go.

as for the rest of your post, i've camped and taken an RV. both were fine. people act like 4 days outside is 6 months. if you live with in 3 hours of this thing and love live music, you have no excuse for not going at least once.

i still haven't decided if i'm going or not this year.

i don't think it's anywhere near as bad as you think it is. and if it's a huge problem for you but have the desire to go, they have showers all over the campgrounds now.
