Lauren Hurst entering the transfer portal

Heupel has been above average in the college football world. He has not been elite like Georgia, ohio state, and others. Kim has been slightly below average with the fear being that she is getting ready to bottom out.
Slightly below average is slightly understated. Our expectations have gone from high NCAA tournament wins, to hoping all the players don’t leave the team.

Sad to see Lauren go unless she reconsiders. She is/was an excellent representative for UT athletics.

If she does leave and other schools would allow her to be a two-sport athlete, both Texas and Kentucky have elite volleyball programs.

But plays volleyball that one lest spot for full time volleyball player.
if you play two sports
university has to give you two scholarship
or raster limits.

Hurst would count towards volleyballs roster limits

I think some people are forgetting that Heupel, Caldwell, and Elander aren’t the only coaches White has hired. Rowing is a ton better. Track and Field is much better than previous coach. Jury is still out on Women’s Golf. Elander is too soon to judge, but it would be hard to live up to Tony. Soccer did better this year than previous years but limped into the tournament and lost to a team in the first round that they previously beat. Heupel is a ton better than the previous few coaches, but that isn’t a high hurdle to clear. Kim has set historic lows. I’d say it’s a mixed bag at the moment.

Sorry, MAD, but extending the soccer coach this year showed me how little he cares about advancing that program.

Drugs can be your friend. Get on the meds, you're fixing to Explode.
You football flybys are soo sensitive. Since you all were too busy personally insulting me to answer my questions I’ll help you out.
SEC Championship 0-0. Never made one. A berth in this would ensure an invite to the all important playoffs. I’m also going to point out I think if we won the silly little SEC championship I bet UT would put the trophy and the case and a lot of you all would buy the t-shirt hat combo.
Georgia 0-5. Georgia is now the SEC measuring stick. How are we looking there?
We lost to freaking Vandy by 21 points (doing that by memory so if I’m off a couple of points my apologies) AT HOME! The team and staff had no fight in that game, just rolled over. How does that even happen?
I keep running over a limit I guess so to be continued.

My final thought. In addition to the above record.
Recruiting is a crapshoot but the “big recruit” Nico was meh. No one cried big tears when he transferred. But, where was the 5 star freshman/sophomore QB in waiting? JH went to the portal but couldn’t land a top level replacement. With our money, tradition, facilities, fan base he whiffed. Don’t get me wrong the “fireman” as one of you all called him did his best and seems like a super young man but how can UT not have a young, quality QB on the bench?

One last word for the”only five years” folks. “Cigneti” (spelling). A NC in two years at an unrepentant basketball school. A school that was always the third best football program in a three football program state. It can be done in the portal era.
I believe JH is probably a really good guy and I am forever grateful to him for removing the stench around UT football following the cheating gump. I think where we are now is where we are going to be with JH. If you football geniuses are okay with okay have at it. I had hoped for more for UT football

Are you a UT fan or just a LV fan?

Are you a UT fan or just a LV fan?
A UT fan and alumnus who had football season tickets from 1985 until I finally could not stand cornbread one more minute and I gave them up. I miss the Petros but not the parking hike from downtown. I thought Dooley’s orange pants were a travesty and Butch Jones was a fraud.
Of all the many painful coaches since Fulmer I like JH the best but I think he’s atop half of the SEC coach.

I think Heupel is a bust. Another coach with gimmicks. The team is undisciplined and has performed below expectations.
Heupel looks like he is on a three day drunk when interviewed. Looks like he has no answers and doesn’t particularly care.
Look at his introductory press conference. It wasn’t that long ago and it barely looks like the same person. Honestly I really do wonder if he is okay.
The more LV mafia I see spew nonsense, the more I hate the brand it has become. Loved Pat and her legacy is not tarnished and she will always be equaled with greatness. But I am ok with fans like you being miserable. I have things I do not like about Danny but our program is in a better place than with Phil, Dave, and any of the rest of the idiots since Dickey. You want to judge a coach by the way he looks. I will take not going 5-7 or hoping for 6-6 than to return to where we have been before Danny. We were a big joke then. The Lady Vols mafia is the big joke now.

So do you always have problems with women expressing their opinions? Hate away charmer.

I don’t freak out over transfers. Some we will hate losing and some the staff will encourage to leave. I hope they have a good plan for this upcoming roster.

Nico didn’t leave until April. Most qbs that transferred were already signed. We have a 5* freshman qb on the bench but he was just a freshman and undersized.

Good to know but he wasn’t good enough to play? I’m sure Nico’s dad timed it to put the most $ pressure on us.

Nico got play in four or so games and start the bowl game
and Red shirt while Tennessee pay him the first year of the four year contract he signed think around 8M
Most freshman quarter back need time to develop.
Tennessee has three young quarterback's who will battle during spring practice and any workouts .
in the practices right before it fall season starts.
or until Josh Heupel determines a clear FrontRunner

sometimes the team will alternate quarterbacks
a game or two to pick the best one

at least one of Tennessee's quarterback
was with the team last season

Like almost every cheetah recruited in recent years, Boyd was definitely offensively challenged. But also obviously had great potential and was a perfect fit for the kamikaze defensive system. Only needed development. Anyone remember development?
I thought Robertson really developed over the course of this season and Cooper improved quite a bit from last season. It was telling in preseason press conferences that Kim kept harping on the fact that they needed more out of Boyd. It did seem she was maybe injured part of the year but also Kim didn't seem happy from day one this year with whatever was going on with Boyd, and that was reflected in the minutes she was given all year.

Something? Anything?

I disagree with the old adage that anyone who complains has to have a solution. Having solutions and strategies when things go wrong it's why ADs make millions and millions of dollars.

IMO, just an acknowledgement of the problems and a promise to work on them might have gone a long way. Instead we got total endorsement of the status quo, complete with vintage DW routine lying that everything was going great.

And thus the total disillusionment of the roster and the march to the portal.
That's not true. While he said he was just as confident in her as the day he hired her, he was very clear that this season did not meet anyone's expectations (I mean, duh).

Crazy thing is, even his hire at UCF (Katie Abrahamson-Henderson) was better than Kim.... this would be the first time really in his career that he "missed" like this on a hire
Katie Abrahamson-Henderson was successful at UCF but has never made it past the 2nd round of the NCAAs. She was 3-13 and 4-12 in the SEC the last two seasons before bouncing back this year. I don't know that we can say she was better than Kim (who made it to the Sweet 16 in year one) yet.

So why are the others leaving? We may be down to just a couple of returning players by the time the portal closes. That is an indication of a major problem.
I have no idea what went down behind the scenes, but all it takes is one bad apple to ruin a locker room, and I wouldn't blame players wanting to leave and get a fresh start after an experience like that.
I don't think she was prepared to handle these types players. They didn't like the system and was always on her to change and she was trying to get them to buy in. That locker room had to be frustrating to everyone. She's had nothing but success until this season yeah I think last year was rather successful beat Ucon and many close losses. She was just unable to take control and it's cost her pretty much the whole team. She wasn't ready for this job.
I think this is probably spot on. I don't think anyone here is trying to say that all the players leaving were cancers, but rather things can spiral if you get one or two bad apples and the coaches don't get a handle on it.

No coach has ever been able to handle Barker. That's why she's played at 3 different schools in 3 years. The WNBA will send her packing unless she changes her habits and attitude.
