Excellent read. Inspirational, in fact

It's a path not for everyone, but it obviously can be quite fulfilling for others.

If we truly believe that sports can build (and reveal) character and that facing adversity sometimes brings out the best in people, then we should not quash their dreams without even considering what will benefit the athlete.

Perhaps Lauren views it differently and feels that being able to participate in both sports she loves and in which she excels will have more positive effects than negative re: how much she can accomplish and contribute to both teams.

We all know that 90% of sports is mental and it's just the other half that is physical.

No!!! "We" should leave LV recruits alone. I am sure she has her own sources of information and does not need random strangers sending her reading material,

My prediction,,,BB one year and vball after that
and
for 25-26 Prediction 2 we will pick up some portal athletic bigs who are not "back to the basket" players, who are looking for such an environment

If you watched the commitment interview, Lauren clearly states that she is playing both volleyball and basketball at UT. Now if she stays committed to doing so, well that's on her. We're all just going by what she clearly stated in the video. In fact she stated the other two schools were going to let her play both and she was recruited by both coaches in those sports as well.

So, the LVs sign a highly ranked recruit out of high school and the "celebration" thread degenerates into an argument about whether she could, should, would be a two sport athlete. There is a phrase for that, if only I could remember it......

Exactly. We should have made a separate thread for the two-sport debate. The native Tennessean isn't getting the positive, excited thread she deserves. 😢

You don’t think there is a workaround with the VB squad by using NIL to entice another down the bench scholly one sport lady to go the walk-on route, in order to provide access to the best in state HS player for the last few years? Bet DW can broker a solution IF IF IF it is desired to fulfill both coaches promises to a high profile recruit.

Opening a slot with integrity IS possible. Word getting out to high profile recruits UT does not live up to promises is not a good option.

I SPECULATE that playing or practicing with both the first year to see which skill sets best translate and to max out development is preferred by all.

We know she can't try volleyball her first year, but I speculate you're right that eventually she'll dip a toe in both and choose one.

There isnt a debate... She didnt even mention the volleyball coaches did she... or have a video with the volleyball coaches... Just let her reach her full potential with basketball

Why can't she play both the 1st year ? That is rhetorical .....she can if she wants to .
