Yeah, that's just the expected effects from activation of the immune system. Vaccines work by making your body think it actually has an infection. The cytokines released from white blood cell activation have a protective "slowing" effect on your body to conserve energy and may increase temperature, which actually aids in fighting real invaders.

Any thoughts on the new way Pfizer’s vaccine works? I don’t know the science but it sounds ground breaking.

Not who you directed the question to but in my limited understanding the real impact of this vaccine may not be Covid but a new approach to vaccines and if it works as anticipated it could spawn a new method. As KD pointed out earlier there are some unknowns though about the long term effects of the approach.

As I understand it; the vaccine triggers your body to produce the virus or something like it rather than injecting the virus into you. Both trigger the immune response.

It does not produce the virus, but the messenger RNA instructs cells to produce a protein that mimics the spike protein of CV19.

I know this thread moves quickly... Read back a couple of pages

It is very new technology. There have been experiments with SARS and MERS, but there have been no widely-administered mRNA vaccines. Obviously, we have no long-term safety data.

Thank you. We are all learning on the fly here, and I do spend a good deal of my limited free time researching and discussing with colleagues.

I'm trying to remain objective and leave politics alone. That's obviously nearly impossible with human nature, so forgive me if I interject any bias. The past eight months have been the least fun of my 20 years as a physician, and I do have rough days where emotion takes over a bit. I do hope that I am able to contribute somewhat to a better understanding and a sound approach to this pandemic.

It may come up later on by the anti vaccine groupers that the vaccine will contain aluminum adjuvants. It's not just the parents and vaccinating of children but elderly that fear the rumors of its connection to dementia and alzhiemers which runs in my family.
I as an elder would value a doctor's opinion over anything the FDA has to say, who told us 7 years ago it was okay to spray our grain crops with round up.
Would appreciate your comments.

True. 2013 I believe FDA said grain crops could be sprayed with Round Up 15 days before harvest to help dry them. Said they added only trace amounts to the harvested grain. Trace amounts in wheat which is in almost all processed foods, your soaps, lotions shampoos, etc. Now today we're seeing class action lawsuits against the company that makes round up for lymphoma and other cancers.

lawsuits doesn't mean it is unsafe. EPA has opined multiple times saying it doesn't cause cancer and even lawyers seeking class action suits are careful to not claim it causes cancer opting instead for words like "probable".

there is no scientific consensus that it causes lymphoma or other cancers; particularly in the trace amounts in the products you mentioned.
