Joe Biden is finally putting an end to to COVID-19 national emergency on May 11 – eight months after declaring the pandemic was over.

The president informed Congress on Monday that he will end the twin national emergencies for addressing coronavirus more than three years after they were declared.

The White House wants a 14-week draw down of the policies and has warned Republicans that ending it immediately will have wide-ranging consequences.

The low to moderate certainty of evidence means our confidence in the effect estimate is limited, and that the true effect may be different from the observed estimate of the effect. The pooled results of RCTs did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks. There were no clear differences between the use of medical/surgical masks compared with N95/P2 respirators in healthcare workers when used in routine care to reduce respiratory viral infection.”

The authors spend two sentences (italics) qualifying and hedging and trying to downplay the actual results of their own study (bold).

Bethea applied for that PPP loan - a fully forgivable loan intended to tide over people whose income was compromised by the pandemic - in March, 2021, just months after being released from prison early after serving a little over half of a two year sentence for a 2019 wire fraud charge.

I called this two years ago (in this thread) as my wife is a teacher and I'm telling you now, it's going to get worse. As 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders move up, the gap between what they actually know and what they should know will only widen unless sweeping changes are made across the board. And why I agree to some extent that the education system could be better, the most significant issue is the lack of parental responsibility, especially in the lower grades.
