That Jones is more lucky than good. That will run out at some point.

Fulmer got fired because we weren't going to beat Bama and Fla. Dooley got fired because he started losIng to Vandy and Kentucky. Butch's fate will be determined by W/L against the 4 lowest rated SEC teams on our schedule. Lose to Vandy, SC 2 years in a row, or have a losing record against either Mizz or Vandy...and the program is not much better than the one be inherited.

Jones may not be the answer long term....but he wasn't gonna get fired for losing an opener to GA Tech (another 9-4 team)....so long story short you should be happy UT stole that one.

Jones certainly didn't outcoach anyone last night, but the one FACT you can't take away from Jones is that his kids DO NOT QUIT AND THEY PLAY VERY HARD FOR HIM.

We can beat Indiana State then we'll be 2 and 0. They may get 400 to 500 yards but I think we'll score over 40 again.

They didn't quit.... Just like last year. I'm just saying we could easily have gone 6-6 last year with a better team. No one in the SEC is afraid of us. I would be incredibly surprised if we go 8-4 in the regular season.

So after week one and an ugly win against an opponent who loves to ugly up the game we have to beat Vandy, SCjr and Mizzou or else....... Got it. You do realize capitalizing on the lucky break was one of Neyland's Maxim's right?

Hey, a win is a win. I'd rather be UT than Texas a and m. Just saying i don't feel as optimistic (for the whole season) as I did before the game. Gotta play these teams and see what happens.

That's the problem with ridiculous expectations at the beginning of every damn year for some of you. It was a great win imo and they had to fight hard to get it.

Is it ridiculous expectations to expect the defense to not give up 535 yards rushing?

That's not the expectation, but 90% of this board babbled forever about GT being some pushover team. I knew this game would be tough for us. The expectation I am referring to are the expectations from some fans that we should beat everyone on the schedule by 50.

Not mad at all. Better than a 1 point loss. But my expectations have dropped as a result of the game.

To the contrary, my expectations went up. When the trip op is clicking, you can't do a lot about it except score more points. The only real disappointment last night would be the GT defense. They should ah e made sure their O didn't get an L after the night they had.

We, on the other hand, showed grit, and that we do have talent and players that can step it up and deliver at the right time.

And we found out we have playmakers on O.

Last night wasn't luck. It was hard work and hanging around and capitalizing.

The tell tell is what do we do from here out with what we found last night.

I have to say that I was disappointed in the game last night until I calmed down and looked at it. The defense was well prepared but the offense couldn't stay on the field long enough to give them a rest. Dormandy finally seemed to calm down and was making good throws that apparently only Callaway (beastmode) could catch. Although disappointed I saw some very big positives. Callaway and Kelly were incredible. I think Dormandy will be ok. First start and a huge stadium.

Will run out ?? Actually, what this squad needs is more plays going their way -- that was the review of many going in to this season. Come back after the FL game.

I will. And i hope it's after a W. We did force 2 fumbles. That's not luck. But the ending of 2 games last year went squarely in our favor. Things even out in the long run. Ask Les Miles.
