I'm not sure what Marvin was talking about when he called South Carolina the defending NCAA Champions in season opener in 1969. They lost to Army in the NIT second round in 1967-68. They were ranked 1st in the opening poll when we beat them in '69, I believe, but even though they went 24-3 and finished 6th in the final AP poll, they didn't make the NCAA T in 1968-69 either.

I along with my radio and earphones were at my first college concert my freshman year at Belmont. WATCHED Little Anthony and the Imperials…., did not hear much.

Both Men’s and Women’s BB games got the same treatment for 4 years.

This was the reason Frank McGuire persuaded South Carolina to leave the ACC for being an independent. This & FSU listening to Bobby Bowden talk them into not joining the SEC were two of the worst decisions in NCAA history.

he left the Atlantic coast conference because he couldn’t beat Duke Carolina NC State or Maryland

He had great teams, equal of better than some of those, but consistently got denied the NCAA berth due to the ACC tournament winner being the only bid. At that time only the ACC had a tournament among the major conferences & he thought it was ********.
