You know what makes a message board so much fun? On the same page you can find a man passionately endorsed...

Vercingetorix...
This is a gauntlet thrown down. This is a coach saying, "I've reviewed the last 15 years of Tennessee's history with Florida, and it stops here." We were pretty freaking comfortable as a #2 behind Florida for a lot of years -- even won a national championship from that position -- but now here's a new coach saying that that's not good enough. We are going to stand you up and hit you in the mouth and fight you back.

That's why, of all the things that have transpired between UT and UF over the last few years, this has the Mullet Nation in the biggest anti-UT uproar I've ever seen. That's why all the Gator trolls were out today. Tennessee has a new coach, and apparently he doesn't know his proper place.

...and vehemently denounced...

ksushalovesthevols..

my real problem with kiffin is all the "swagger" and the £"%^& talking he's doing without having ever set foot on the field. he's made an idiot of himself with the recruiting accusations against meyer. thank GOD that doesn't reflect poorly on anyone else but him. however, after all those comments about beating florida, winning national championships and meyer cheating, our whole program is going to be the laughing stock of the nation if we don't pull out at least 9 wins. and GOD help us with that, because even most of the kiffin obsessed don't think he can do that in the first year.

i find the man annoying to no end. he needs to shut his mouth and let people judge him on what he does and not what he says. after all, he doesn't have the luxury of having national championship rings and BSC bowl game trophies that at least justify that kind of talk from Bama and FL.

The best part about this is that both opinions prove that a passion has been reinvigorated among the Volunteer faithful.

Good to see. Now let's get out on the field and hit someone...

Go Vols!

Hey, you can't say we are not getting recognized......hearing more about us than about Alabama's, LSU's, or Florida's recruiting class....

Ha. There was plenty of passion circulating when UF used us as a Mop-N-Glo in 2007 and 2008.

while I would agree more with the second quote, I totally agree with your assessment.

Now, that the base is reinvigorated, can CLK please stop making an ass out of himself for the good of us all? ...or the final score from the florida game may be on some magizine covers.

quick question...Does anyone know off of the top of their head the series record between UF/UT since Spurriers first year at Florida?

go to any sports site or sports section on a paper's website and they're discussing UT 2 days after signing day. We we what 17th and are getting as much press as the leaders? Good press baby

If it works for Bruce Pearl... (and it has so far) I see no reason why Lane Kiffin should not do it, but he has to back his words up on the field. Most TN fans just want to be competitive against Florida again.

Out this way the radio windmachines love on Tulsa/Arkansas/OSU/but are pure Sooner homers mostly. That said the Kiffin story I've heard a dozen times, which is amazing.

being the nice, quiet kid in the corner got us on a mag with 59-20. Does it really matter at this point?

I subscibe to the opinion that the swagger will be reflected on the field. Playing with emotion always seemed to be a problem for the Fulmer coached teams. I think the CLK editions will be much more in your face and I believe that to be a good thing.

VM21 missed a period....expecting again?

Would you to kiss and make up for crying out loud. I have my own domestic problems when I'm at home, all I need is to log onto volnation and find two Big Orange fans going back and forth at each other.

Can't we all just get along? or at the very least ignore each other?

There's good recognition and then there's bad recognition. The former causes fear in your enemies, while the latter is more like being the idiot who keeps talking to himself in the corner at a party...everybody "recognizes" him too.

I have no problem with CLK being brash and having some "swagger," but he's coming dangerously close to looking like the idiot here. First, his comments about Meyer come back to bite him and he's publically reprimanded by the SEC.

What bothers me most, though, is the comments he made about Richardson's high school in Florida. Those aren't getting as much play, but he said that the HS might use dirty tricks to prevent the kid from faxing his LOI.

One of the most important tools for recruiting, especially in hostile territory, is building a good rapport with the coaches and administrators. If CLK is such a whiz kid recruiter, he should know better than sowing seeds like this.

Agreed 100%. Thanks for posting. Having spent the last 40 hours in the office, most of them awake, I am not nearly as coherent, but you've basically summed it all up very nicely. :)

How are his comments any different than Steve Spurrier's a few weeks ago? I didn't hear Mike Hamilton whinning about that, and I didn't hear anyone calling Spurrier an idiot.

Ever stop to think this was an intentional shot accross the bow to get Meyer to leave his recruits alone while the are on official visits to UT. Maybe the highschool coach was actually pushing the kid to Florida.

Maybe Lane wants everyone to think twice before they F with him.

Kiffin snatches Richardson from Meyer's grasp and he looks like the idiot? I simply don't understand that logic.

I guess the outcome of the UT/UF game over the next couple of seasons will reveal whether there was genius or immature, inexperienced, embarrassing lunacy in what CLK said and did.

it might be kind of ugly this year, but the year after i say the gap closes, and there will be some epic battles

I'll go one step further...

How UT fans see Kiffin: A young, exciting, energetic, afraid of no one coach who has called out the giants in the SEC and served notice that UT is back.

How everyone else sees Kiffin: A young, inexperienced, foolish coach with egg on his face who has not proved one thing on the field and who couldn't stand on his own without daddy having his back.

Time will tell....Go Vols!!!
