Lane slightly better rb than Neal

Neal wasn't doing too bad early in the season, but I wish we had started Lane from the get-go. Lane just seems like more of a gamer to me -- yes I realize the opponent this time was Troy, not an SEC team. But Lane has been running hard, Montario-like, with a few decisive cuts.

I think a lot of people on this board have a strange man love for Marlin Lane just because they so desperately wanted him to get more playing time over Poole last year or something

In every game where both played healthy Neal looked like the better runner

I respect your dissenting opinion, but I don't think Lane was even getting in the games early in the season.

Agree...except for the NC State (I think) where Neal kept trying to bust it outside when he would have had more yardage up the middle.

I really don't see a lot of difference between the two, but I think Neal has been a little better overall when healthy.

Yea, and he had way more yards too, doesn't have anything with him getting 3/4's of the carries that Lane does. and where was D. Young yesterday.

You need two running backs.. They're both vastly improved over last year... Give Jay Graham a raise..

I agree, Rajon Neal is the better RB. I do not understand, however, why UT doesn't utilize him more in the passing game. His hands, and route running ability, remind me of Brian Westbrook's.

I'm just happy we are arguing which running back is better. Run game has definitely improved. Just throwing it out there, we'd probably be better than 8th in the SEC if we weren't playing from behind all the time and having to throw as much.

Edit - not that our passing game is bad. D doesn't give us a chance to remain balanced.

Good point. When he catches it, he gets up field in a hurry too

I agree with this post. ML really moves around in traffic better than RN.......good feet.

I feel like Neal looks for a soft landing when he gets the ball instead of fighting for extra yards. Lane runs hard. He seems to want it, finds the holes better, and has less chance of getting tripped up or bumped to the ground. Lane averages 5 yards per carry, and Neal gets 4.5.
