Why are people upset right now?

1. Well first off we have a young loudmouth, hotshot coach who says what he wants.
2. He has slapped CUM in the face and thrown down the gauntlet.
3. He has delivered on everything that he has promised thus far (pulling together an incredible staff, top 10 class, #1 recruit in the nation, 3/4 most desired recruits post signing day, etc).
4. He is getting more media attention than any football coach right now in the country. All eyes are on UT football.

Annoys the heck out of our rivals...

Lane is reminding me of Spurrier. Someone everyone loves to hate. If he dominates the SEC like Steve did in the 1990s...bring on the hate.

oh let me add

5. He is a workaholic. Guy is incredibly hard working.

I agree totally with this thread, he is leading us the same way spurrier did FLA in the 90's and I hope Lane holds no prisoners come game time in the fall just like the ol' ball coach use to do.

I agree. Great to have this kind of SWAG back at UT.

I have never ever seen this type of Swag before in Knoxville. Even in 1998 we weren't like this. Phil was a pretty humble guy, never one to taunt. I for one like it. Now let's back it up!:superman:

Everyone hated the guy but, everyone was always worried about his team's on the schedule. That in itself would be sweet!

I'd say he's impressed me about as much as one can in the course of a single offseason.

Let the man coach a few games before you go overboard with the SOS comparisons.

Yes, Lane has a long way to go and has yet to coach a game. I'm just saying that he has personality style very similar to CSS. He is not introverted that's for sure. Nor is he humble. He relates to the media in very Spurrier type of way.

Spurrier didn't open his mouth until he started dominating ON THE FIELD and when he did open his mouth it wasn't shots at people or their families.

. . . because I'm sure you have very vivid memories of Spurrier's early coaching years.

Lane K and his staff have already outworked every other school in the SEC for recruits, with limited time available after he was hired. Next year, UT gets the #1 class--mark it down.

I completely agree. We will definitely be in the top 5 and I would go as far to say that anything less would be a setback.

But like someone said earlier I think if he does have success it will be tough to hold on to some of these coaches. Especially CEO...he's passionate about the game and I see him wanting to be a head coach again after a few years. I mean you can't blame him, but I'm a selfish VOL.
