He wants a big job but unfortunately burned the bridge to the ground leaving after 1 year. Fans were mostly on the fence, embraced him when hired, hated him when he left, loved him when we needed a coach, and now generally dislike him again. He tried over and over to get UT's attention during the last coaching search but that bridge is still torched.

As for me, what happened with his run at UT is no longer a sore spot. If the job comes open and he is the best coach available. Hire him. Most fans would say the same at that point. Seems most on here now think it was a bad idea to consider him but when the job was open, Volnation had thread after thread where the majority was onboard. Polls in threads were dominated by people saying they would take him back right then.

His work at FAU last year was outstanding. His twitter is fun to follow. He has coached at 3 major programs and in the NFL. He worked under a great college coach at USC and another at Bama that will likely be recognized the best college coach of all time when he retires. While at Tennessee he showed what good coaching can do on a pretty bad team. Coached up a QB that we had written off as a bust. He recruits very well. His offensive creativity is one of the best there is at any level. My biggest concern would be recruiting violations but it seems that he has learned the rules. No major violations at USC, Alabama, or FAU.

Depends on the particular audience for whatever topic he’s tweeting or interviewing on.

He’s very very good at using media and pushing people’s buttons.

But I think he’ll hit a ceiling with that schtick at most major D1 program schools. Probably works at USC with the LA audience. Not so much in the SEC I think.

I think he trolls because he wish he hadn't left. He wanted the job again wasn't going to happen but he can't seem to let go so he trolls us.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Perhaps it is eating at him, what might have been had he used the head on his shoulders (more than the one down below), stayed at UT and worked at building a new SEC powerhouse where once one existed. Perhaps he has matured some. And might even want another crack at the HC job in Knoxville. But more likely he has just been trolling - trying to take advantage of the notoriety UT has attracted with our poorly managed coaching "search" and subsequently the hope we now have with Pruitt at the helm, to get himself some easy publicity. I will admit, when things were looking grim just before Currie's firing, in a sense of desperation I even posted a couple of pro-Kiffin posts. But just like the Gruden dreams, that genie ain't never going back in the bottle.

EDIT: I don't rule out that he might both be trolling AND actually want to coach the Vols again for whatever perverse and selfish reasons. But to use another metaphor, that ship has sailed...

I don't think its either. I think its a mixture of damage control PR because of how he left, appeasing the UT fanbase so we would support him if ever offered the job in the future and being complimentary of our coaches in case he is ever in a position to work with any of them.

Basically he is acting like a mature coach when he is not trolling us.

That useless scumbag is a attention whore and a troll, nothing more.

He can't stand it when he's not getting attention from the press for something, anything at all will float his boat.

He was a huge part of the Cheaters club at USC that sunk that program for several years.

Then he was ignorant enough to go back there before the NCAA penalties were over with and the deck stacked against him, total moron move.

If Tennessee ever hires him again I'll have to support Vanderbilt....YUKKKKK!!!

VFL...GBO!!!

100% false. He absolutely nothing to do with nor was ever mentioned in any of the USC shenanigans.
