With the loss of Tajh Boyd (Kiffin apparently told him that it wouldnt be the best idea to come to UT) it looks to me that Kiffen, who is known for premier pocket passers such as Matt Leinart and Carson Palmer, has a good idea on who is going to be the starting QB. BJ Coleman would be a great fit for Kiffin. If he improves his footwork, i could see him being a lot like Palmer and Leinart. And the possibility of him throwing to Gerald Jones (a lot like Steve Smith of the NYG) and and Marlon Brown (maybe, but a lot like Dwayne Jarrett of CP), with our running backs, i think we have a bright future. It probably wont happen the first year but if were patient enough, we should eventually be an elite team.

Yeah, the only difference between Coleman and two Heisman winners is "improving his footwark." Keep drinking that Koolaid.

BJ doesn't have a very strong arm. Against Vandy it looked like he was just floatin it out there.

There is no question in my mind Kiffin is gonna have somebody ready. He will not show up for the first game unprepared.

yeah there was no question that crompton would be ready this year but look what happend there. Letting Tajh Boyd go is the dumbest thing Kiffin could have done. Not very smart especially when it looks like getting another QB in the 09 class looks like a long shot.

the quarterback will be Stephens or a freshman recruit that Kiffin is working on getting right now. Obviously if he told Boyd not to come then he has a plan and has an eye on another recruit out there. Kiffin is an offensive mastermind, he knows what he is doing

You do know we have a new coach right?

edit: I am in no way saying I expect Crompton to be our starting QB. I don't know who it will be.

Sure, he had an "off" year, but he will soon be back to the form he showed against that top ranked LSU defense back in '06. He looked so good throwing the long ball (like dropping a penny in cup from 20 feet) that most of us were wondering why Ainge was starting to begin with. Kiffin knew he had things taken care of next year with Jon; he is probably trying to find the perfect guy to fill Crompton's shoes in two years.

Sure is... Crompton showed his true colors. He performed just as well as he did in 2006 in 2008. Under 50% completion percentage. Pathetic decision making. Meachem was the only thing keeping us from a beatdown against LSU. Arkansas figured that out.

Do you think he just told the guy not to come because he didn't like him? Obviously, Kiffin has a plan for the QB situation and was smart enough to know that getting Boyd to commit to UT would only be wasting a scholarship. It had to be very apparent to Kiffin that Boyd would not fit his offense and I applaud him for the move.

Anyway, aren't the most successful coaches the ones that can persuade the players that fit their style to come and play for them. Think about Peyton Manning trying to run the option at Nebraska in the mid 90's. Would it have been dumb for Tom Osborne to cull Manning for a Scott Frost? No, and this is no different.

You seem to know more than a head coach in the SEC. We should have hired you and we'd be national champs next year.

I think any player recuited by Kiffin will look at that example and believe what Kiffin tells them and that he is just not blowing smoke. I believe it will go towards helping land players Kiffin wants.

Not too dumb if it is going to take the kid time to develop and he doesn't fit your offense. What do you want to do, lie to the kid and he comes in here takes up a scholarship and sets on the bench. Let the coach do the recruiting and coaching!

If anything Crompton, Stephens and BJ should be looking over their shoulders especially Crompton. Under Fulmer I think Crompton felt his job was safe. If he plays like he did last year he won't last a quarter much less four games under Kiffin. Under Kifin you don't do the job and make mistakes it's back of the line on the pine and who's next.

this season. BTW, Jamie Newberg says landing Lane Kiffin is a great hire & he thinks LK has a bright future @ Tennessee. Hope Jamie is on the mark.

Why the hell will Crompton even be around? He supposedly graduates in sping '09. Even if he has a year of eligibility left, why would Kiffin want to waste his time with a demonstrated stiff?

Don't worry about Boyd guys. His dad was going to meddle too much. That was part of the fall out with WV. Remember Juicy Locke. Mustain' momma got Nutt fired... Who needs that drama?
