I like her stuff. They delayed releasing her album cause of her terrible snl performance last year.

i don't know about that. i think some songs are easier to play live than other. she has a great voice live, but she has so much stuff going on in her songs, it would be very hard to reproduce it.

she was my guilty pleasure, even after the horrid SNL appearance.

her plastic surgery lip bothers me. once i knew it was there, i couldn't unhear it in her songs. all that said, i still think she makes catchy/good music.

it's not for everyone, but it's def not the worst

Listened to her album Born to Die: Paradise Edition today. Very impressed. Reminds me of an edgier Nora Jones. She has a lot of range in her vocals and changes it up quite effectively in her songs.

FTR this thread inspired me to check her out when I noticed her album on Rdio's 'heavy rotation' list.

It means they are the production of a good sound studio. A bad live performance usually indicates they are a "Studio band" aka not really good.
That is totally the opposite of what he stated and makes no sense. There are a million artists that sound good on record thanks to studio production, but only a few can carry that over in a live performance.

Are people really just now hearing her music for the first time?

It's not like she's the Beatles or something.

Speaking for myself, I don't really pay attention to mainstream music. I only listen to talk radio or stream music so my exposure is limited. She only has 2 studio albums since 2007, the first of which was a digital exclusive. Her second came out in 2012 so I actually feel relatively up to dare on her.

Born To Die is $6.99 on iTunes until the end of the week I believe. I haven't listened to anything besides "Summertime Sadness" and "Young and Beautiful". Both are great songs though. May need to check out some of her other stuff after reading some posts in here.

I would go ahead and get the Paradise edition. It has 9 extra tracks.
