So I was wondering if anyone else noticed that LaMarcus Thompson hits people like he's trying to kill them. Every time I've seen him in on a play there is a loud pop and someone is on the ground for a few extra seconds. Anyone else think he will be a special talent??

I think he is going to be incredible. He's definitely a defender I've been watching.

Its crazy, LaMarcus is really not that big. I'm a big guy (6'5" 280) but even some of the other LBs (McCoy stands out, Nick Reveiz as far as bulk goes) seem to be significantly bigger then LaMarcus.

Makes all the hits that much more special huh?

Have a class with him, he is a really smart guy and incredibly nice, always talks to people and is willing to help anyone out.

right on. Well thanks guys I was wondering if anyone else was on the LaMarcus train. Apparently he's getting alot of people's attention. But what a vicious (and consistently so) hitter.

I think Lamarcus is better than Rico.

you know, I was thinking that LaMarcus AND Reveiz have outplayed Rico so far this year, but that of course doesnt mean that Rico hasnt been great. Just the other two have been lights out. And King and Frazier playing tough bodes well for the future.

He's one who has stood out in a good way. I've enjoyed watching his hustle as well as the big hits he's delivered.

Here's some other good news for the defense IMO:

Making a Move?: Brent Vinson worked at corner in place of Art Evans.

AND

Ben Martin got time at defensive end with the starters.

nice to hear positive character comments on these threads (smart, willing to help other folks). I bet he would even help the guy up that he lays out. Of course, assuming the guy is capable of being helped up and not lights out. Didn't he hurt his arm or something this past week.

Ya I love Gerald Williams and think he's doing pretty well but I'd love to see Ben Martin show up in a bigger way.

i don't know if anyone else noticed last Saturday, but i think Art Evans got manhandled a few times out there. i just seemed to see him give up the easy play or be out of position (so it seemed, i'm no coach obviously) it wouldn't surprise me to see his time docked.

Ya I saw him lose contain at least once. But I think he just got blocked.

I wasn't impressed by Art Evans at all. Big Ben looked pretty good.
Also got to give some love to Reveiz. That kid is good. Might not be the most athletic LB we have but he's smart, knows where to be, and is a sure tackler.

I think an interesting stat to research if anyone has the time is how often does this secondary even get thrown on down field? I havent seen it much. And I think this secondary has to be top 3 in run support in the country.

I can't remember a single deep pass (for completion) in the three games. I can only remember one deep pass and it was the UCLa game when Prince was pressured and I think JJ almost had the pic.

Are you kidding me? One attempted deep ball in 3 games.

Reveiz reminds me of Ryan Karl from a few years back. i know he had his limitations, but like Reveiz he always seemed to be in on the plays. Can somebody tell me anything bad about our stud freshman Montori Hughes? Dude took down Tebow and got the ball from him. As if he's not already, he will be an absolute BEAST for us down the road!

no one's even trying and we just played the number 1 team in the country. I dont think we see many more passes on this D until Joe Cox and Georgia. Maybe Todd will come to town and serve up Berry's record breaker.

LaMarcus Thompson reminds me of Raynoch Thompson.

LaMarcus was only a 3 star 5.6 rated recruit too.
