The matchup problems will be teams athletic, skilled and disciplined enough to control PACE. A key objective of the way we play is to force our pace on the other team. We want them to take quick "out of system" shots. Teams that have guards good enough and smart enough to break the press and take the easy high-percentage shots but also turn down the questionable shot attempts and organize in the halfcourt to dictate the shot they want will be the ones that give us the most issue.Nah
Disciplined, smart, and big will be tough. A team that can break the press, get high percentage looks, low turnovers, and offensive rebound (see VT last year) will be a bad matchup.
Forgot to acknowledge this earlier. All my life I've known the name "Connie Mack" and that he was a widely respected and influential figure in baseball history. But your post was the first time I ever knew what his real name was! Thanks for posting. This reminds me of an elderly relative who lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a fan of the Philadelphia Athletics, then owned and managed by Cornelius McGillicuddy, better known as Connie Mack.
Mr. Mack was known for his sartorial splendor.

I wonder what he would have thought of Bill Belichick.
I like these thoughts. Don't know if they're true, but I like them.A thought on the "losing a game we shouldn't" (which almost every team does)...
I'm thinking when that happens to the "better" team, it's either because team shooting is off that night, or two key players are missing playing time on the bench with foul trouble.
Because our style of play encourages/rewards a deeper bench, and because of its positionless nature, we should always have more choices from which to put five players on the court in any game. If so, then percentages should be even more favorable that someone on our team can deliver a hot hand on any given night.
That's percentages. But watching last season's men's team, I began to wonder if the closer teammates are to each other, if in their "oneness" they don't fall into shared shooting patterns? When we were hot, everyone was hot. When we were cold, everyone was shooting cold.
For those who have been watching Lady Vols more closely and over time, have y'all seen a similar pattern among the recent LV teams who were closer in their friendships and commitment to each other?
Ward Cleaver mentality isnāt getting it done and running the show any longer. Sorry we are winning and you get to hitch your Karen mentality along for the ride. If these are the things that bug you in 2024, we are in a good spot.Well. At the University of Tennessee the three biggest moments of the ADās career are hiring and introducing a new football coach, a new menās basketball coach and a new womenās basketball coach. Our AD showing up in a well worn, ill fitting sport coat with no tie was, IMO disrespectful to the university, the alumni, fans in general, CKC and our Lady Vols.
He is the AD at one of the top universities in the country and is paid accordingly. A nice suit and tie are well within in his financial means. If he canāt afford it on his āmeagerā salary please have him message me and I will take him and buy him a suit, a couple of shirts and ties.
A grown man should know when to dress his best.
So āobsessionā is a little strong but it does really bug me. I also have thoughts on our football coach wearing a smock suitable for fingerpainting day at kindergarten along with three day drunk stubble on game days.
Lucy ought to be thankful our lady coaches don't dress like Kim Mulkey.Ward Cleaver mentality isnāt getting it done and running the show any longer. Not sure if you have noticedā¦ the alumni, fans and most importantly athletes love the man. Iām sure your letter after the CKH firing was read with great consideration as White is a man of the people.
