Should have started her ace first game. Certainty didn’t need to draw any attention to the team. If it did happen. But now now look Texas Tech has the last laugh.

but to retort your argument, bc im tired in a hotel between OKC and Houston - Karen did exactly what the majority of fans were suggesting was the right choice the other day in our first meeting with Texas. She started Sage who was more effective against them than Pickens. It was the right choice based on matchups and strategy. It's just the old bugaboo saying "pitching will get you to the big stage, but your're going to need offense to win it.' Very young team coming back that will squarely have OKC in their sights once again.

Meanwhile our opponent is not in their 4th title game in the last 5 years.

Don't see where it made any difference which game Pickens started we didn't score enough in either game to win it. They got four runs off Pickens which was enough to win either game. Fairly obvious that both Tech and Texas have overall better rosters basically because of more experience than we did.
This team put a great showing this season only senior on the team was Pickens hopefully they will grow together and have another great season next year with another chance to win it all.
Definitely hard to compete with unlimited NIL money so I am very proud of the job the Coaches and player did this season.

Karen made mistakes, but in the end, it was our bats (or lack thereof), that cost us. Not going to lie, I was talking to my TV telling her to pull Sage several batters before she did. It was obvious Sage didn't have her best stuff. I know KW was hoping she'd work through it, but that wasn't the time or place.

That said, people calling for change, or for KW to retire, need to calm their tits. Ralph and Karen built this program into a national power. She's a good coach. Players come here to play for her. Were she to leave or retire, who replaces her? Remember, DW make the hire, and he's not known for making the popular choice.

I am as disappointed as everyone else but this is not on Karen. I think she and staff did a good job getting a team that scoring more than 2 runs a game was a miracle to the WS semis. As several posters have said, lack of hitting was the downfall.

The best 8 teams are in the WS and if you can't score at least 4 runs a game you don't really have a chance. Karen needs to meet with Danny and tell him if you want a championship I need $ to get hitters.

For those saying didn’t have enough bats, I think at the point Sage started struggling, UT was tied in the bottom of 5th . Put in KP and go for the knock out punch in a winnable late inning game.

You can’t win if you don’t hit the ball and score runs. Our pitchers feel as if they have to be perfect to win. That’s a lot of pressure and in the big games, that’s just not a winning recipe. Overall, after taking a few hours to cool off, the two best teams are going to play for the championship. We were lucky to beat both teams playing for the championship. Go Lady Vols.

I think I read where UCLA era was in the 70s or 80s nationally? I don’t recall exactly, but it was extremely high for a World Series team, yet they could have taken TTech out with the home run power.

Give UCLA just one of our 3 starting pitchers, they would be playing for it all.

The days of having dominant pitchers to win every game is over. The hitting is so good that on the second turn, a good hitting team will figure out any pitcher, in 90% of the games. Sure I k ow TTech did not hit us well in the 2-1 loss, but that won’t happen consistently.

I'll be interested to see what happens with the strike zone in the off season. Lots of complaints about how tight it was this year. If they widen it a little bit I wouldn't be surprised to see offenses take a step back next year.

You must be the president of our keyboard coach's society. Do you guys have in person meetings or just video chats?

It was as much inconsistent as it was tight. Fix the inconsistencies should be priority one. Rate the umps on accuracy. Even within a single crew it varied by who was behind the plate.

The female Gumps started their ace pitcher and they had the same result as we did. So it really doesn’t matter. Plus as another poster stated, have to score runs to win any games.

Bingo. At the end of the day, the players that perform the best in the game turn out to be the winners.

We played the same players (including pitchers) who played all year. They didn’t outperform their competition yesterday. So we lost.

To put any of this on game day coaching decisions is absurd.

Exactly. People are so desperate to blame the loss on that decision but it wouldn’t have mattered. Also Sage really was our true ace this year.

worst hitting team i can remember. They are not aggressive take a lot of good pitches and swing at bad pitches because they get behind in the count

He could not care less about championships.

Then you have not paid attention to what he says. He has stated many times he expects his HC's to build teams to play for championships.
Translation: I sure hope Heupel can win enough to keep our football rabid fans pouring in the cash. Gotta make this entertainment district a golden goose or I may be moving on to another town.
