Lady Vols and Turnovers

This Lady Vols team is totally lacking in basketball security. The LV had 8 more turnovers than Texas in the game on Sunday. Texas scored 14 points from those turnovers...it cost the LV the game and will continue to be a problem for the rest of the season unless corrected. Remember in one game this year they had 29 turnovers. More often they make poor decisions on basketball security, even from short distances. Coach Barnes has a "cure" for turnovers with the men...in practice a turnover results in the player having to run from the floor to the top of the arena and back. Usually that reminder results in less than 10 turnovers per game. The LV consistently has three or more players with three or more turnovers per game. Other problems with the LV against Texas was very poor defense and "free throw" shooting in the 60% range.

It's the same problems over and over, namely turnovers and hideous free throw shooting. A poor reflection of the coach. Can Barnes do double duty... ?

We got up more shots than they did 72 to 69 and the free throws were 19 for each team. So the fact we couldn't shoot the ball is the ultimate reason we lost. Turnovers only have an effect when they limit your shot attempts and they didn't in this game. I guess you could say considering all the terrible shots and the easy ones we missed could be considered turnovers as they definitely cost us the game. Being able to shoot the ball is why you win or lose especially when you play well enough to get more shots than you opponent and don't lose the free throw line.
If we had made 80% of our free throws and the missed easy shots under the basket, we win.
