Seneca Driver is the top-ranked tight end in the 2027 recruiting class, and he has been a long-time target for the Tennessee Volunteers. He has continued to hear from the Vols’ routinely as his recruiting process has continued to intensify.
With the 2027 class on the clock, Driver continues to hear from more schools, and while his process has intensified, he is still conducting business as usual.
“I wouldn’t say more difficult,” Driver said of navigating the process. “My family has taught me to have a small head, and I am just trying to be smart with it. I almost try to ignore it sometimes, so that I can stay focused on the fact that I am just a high school football player, and I still haven’t made it to college yet.”
Tennessee has been a long-time factor in Driver’s recruitment, and the Vols have remained consistent in their approach.
“They are just great people,” Driver said of Abeln and the Tennessee staff. “They are genuine, and they always keep the same story with me. I just like them being really consistent with me. They keep checking on me, and I am big on family and certain things, and it makes me feel like I would be going into a family if I was to go there.”
This approach has allowed the relationship between Driver and the Vols to continue to grow.
“I would say very comfortable,” Driver said of the continued relationship. “I feel like I can talk with them about anything. I feel like they would tell me something if I needed to work on it. We don’t always talk about football, so I can just really be myself around them.”
Driver is looking to return to campus in the spring, and Tennessee will work to get one of his official visits in the summer, as he still works through who will get those and when they will be. So what does he want to keep learning about Josh Heupel’s program.
“I would like to keep learning more about how they treat their players, so like being able to see how the players there react to the coaches,” Driver said. “I would really like to get that real insight from the players.”
Driver has plans to take all of his official visits in the summer and make a decision after.
“I am going to take all of them in the summer, and I am planning to commit in the summer,” Driver said of his plan.
He knows what he will look for in a school when he does make that decision.
“Just a family built school that treat their kids like family that can use me,” Driver previously told
Volquest in October.
