There has been a lot of hand wringing and whining about the HFC selection process. Currie/Haslam totally screwed the pooch. Phil Fulmer took over a mess and worked through it.

While Currie focused on 1 candidate that was generally unacceptable and then tried to focus on 1 at a time, Fulmer interviewed several potentials. He talked to some that rejected the interest, some that ended up falling short of his requirements and some that would only discuss a role that wasn't offered.

Jeremy Pruitt is a good choice. It will take a while to decide if it was a great hire. I gave Botch Jones my full support until I figured out that his rhetoric was hollow and empty of substance. I will give Pruitt the same support and hope he earns it long term.

GO BIG ORANGE!

Phil did a great job for where we were in the process. I’m cheering for Pruitt to win big and I think he has a lot of upside. Just like most good coordinators, it’s always a little bit of a risk without head coaching experience.

:good!:Oh hell yeah, congrats to Fulmer for hiring an assistant that was coaching HS 10 years ago. Woohoo!

Don’t necessarily agree with the hire but I’m in wait & see mode.

The last two previous hires has really made me a very cautious person.

I don’t want to go through another letdown.

Big freaking deal! Ten years is a pretty long training period. Twelve years ago, Gus Malzahn was coaching HS too. He's doing alright--ass!

Good job Fulmer!

I was worried he was trying to choose assistants too. And that was cause for delay...

Sounds like he was telling Someone to F off. And building support on that.

Thanks to Fulmer we may just have a real Football Coach. Too bad he wasn't AD years ago. Recruiting will be better too, can you imagine hearing his pitch to young men to come play. His passion is contagious. A'ight GBO

Phil made chicken salad outta chicken crap and knocked this one outta park. I’m all in with Pruitt. He just has it together and you could tell it.

I was disappointed that Pruitt did not have the white hair Fulmer promised. BUT...

1. He’s not from some library conference
2. He has SEC experience
3. He has Tennessee roots thru MTSU
4. He has a BIG pool for assistants ($5M)
5. He isn’t just bull$hit and cliches
6. He’s been involved with nat champs at multiple stops
7. He’s not named Dooley or Jones
