How so?

We shoulda won 11 games last year if not for 2 epic choke jobs against Oklahoma and Florida.

I'm sorry but anything short of 11-1 in the regular season is a FAILURE. That's what we should have done last year against a stronger schedule and with less talent and depth.

This year we're more talented, have better depth, more experience, and an easier schedule. Its UNACCEPTABLE to go worse than 11-1 in the regular season.

We also could have lost to South Carolina.

OUs defense turned it up the 2nd half.

We used how many gimmick plays against the Gators?? If it weren't for Dobbs and Kamara, then Florida beats us by 3 tds.

Couldn't stop Arkansas or Alabama when they needed to convert on the ground.

We had some holes. Could have won 11. But we weren't a upper caliber SEC team. We are this year. 11 wins is going to have be earned.

Uga and Florida are not cakewalks. We'll be lucky to split those games.

No, we won't be lucky to split them. We should win both of them.

Agree with most of this...we will beat Fla handily. Ga will be very tough.

Its been over 20 years since we've beaten Florida handily.

I disagree. Both UGA and UF will have good passing attacks. Florida being more balanced with the TE.
Both defenses will have speed in the edge and size in the interior.

I honestly think its a dead heat between the 3 teams. Tennessee holds the edge with experience.

Kongbo and Gaulden will be key in these games.

UGA has a new HC who is primarily a defensive guru, likely a true freshman QB never having taken an SEC snap, and they're going to have a strong passing attack airing it out?!?! Can you mail me some of your sensimilla seeds for starter plants?

That's hot seat territory for Butch Jones.

We have too much talent to lose 3 out of 4 in that stretch. Plus going 5-3 in the SEC means no SEC title game appearance.

I would fire Butch Jones if we flopped that hard this season.

Well, that's one more of the millions of reasons why I'm glad you have absolutely no say so in the football program. Ridiculous.

How can you speak definitively when it comes to UGA and UF's passing games? One will be starting a journeyman QB who couldn't start at Oregon St., and the other will either be starting a true freshman, a very talented true freshman, but a freshman never-the-less or an unimpressive fifth year senior who UT beat last year. Beating UF and UGA this year is far from a given, but to say that both of their passing games will be good is only a guess and probably is more of a reach. I get it. The Florida curse is real in some people's mind and is a key contributor in the disorder most commonly known as "battered fan syndrome," but there are literally no excuses for not beating at least UF, and considering the experience advantage UT has, UGA too.

Totally agree. This Florida/UGA back to back situation with our schedule I think is actually as ideal as it possibly could be. We play Florida first obviously, and that will be Del Rio's first real SEC experience (they have UK at home two weeks earlier). Imagine this: a quarterback who (as previous poster stated) was second string as Oregon State, first time in Neyland Stadium, 102,455 screaming fans making the noise level exceed 110 decibels, with arguably our best defense we've had in a decade. Remember in the NW game when Barnett flattened their QB? No contest afterwards. If Barnett, or essentially anyone on our defense gets that kind of opportunity, I think it would be game over.

As for UGA, they play UNC (preseason ranked #20) week one, play Missouri at Missouri week 3, and play Ole Miss (#12) at Ole Miss week 4. You talk about a tough early stretch. I think that Eason will be a good QB, but that's a pretty difficult early stretch for any team, especially a team with a QB fresh out of high school. If I were a UGA fan that might be feeling optimistic about the season, I would be looking at the game against UT as a trap game for sure.

That is Chaney and Mclwiens specialty. Thats why i say that.

Both will have Freshman QBs. (Del Rio won't last) which will hurt for a bit.

Franks and Eason will have the green lights.

UGA will have a strong run game to boot.

Chaney goes into passing tunnel vision mode...that'll help us.

Its also been over 20 years since we've had a significant talent advantage over Florida. Typically it's been the other way around with Florida having the huge talent advantage or it being very close.

Its about the names on the back of the jersey not the front.

There was a time we dominated Alabama. Then they got arguably the greatest coach ever (Saban). He improved their talent ten-fold and have owned us ever since.

Things change. We'll dominate Florida this season. I predict a 38-13 type victory.

Did Kongbo promise that the Vols would beat Alabama, Florida and Georgia, if he's true to his word, perhaps he will be anointed "King Kongbo", ya think?

Are you predicting the Gators to have a poor defense or just that the Vols will be so dominate on offense?
